I have gootten the brake caliper off and disconnected it from the shock what else needs to be done in order to take the brake disk off the cv joint so i can put the boot on the joint. any help appreciated thanks

How do you get the CV joint off of the CV rod? I have taken off the keeper pin now what should I do.

Uhhh I've tried everything and i cant get the joint off to get the boot on

your doing it the hard way..

The way i did it was.. Loosed that big bolt in the center of the hub. Then hit the axle with a hammer to it loosens the axle from the hub. I then unbolted the 3 bolts at the bottom of the wheel hub.. Then popped the whole brakes and hub assemble away from the lower arm of the suspension.. Then you have room to drop part of the axle down. And use a crow bar to pry the axle from the transmission.

I'm not replacing the whole cv arm just the boot and i have to get it off of the arm to put on the boot

did you take off the metal clips that hold the boot to the axl shaft?

the metal rings at the top and bottom of the rubber boot

yes i did im down to the keeper ring holding the joint on to the axl shaft so i can put the small part of the boot on

I'm not quite sure if that this is the right way of doing it. Its been a long time since I have disassembled a cv axle and i forgot the details. I would have to have a joint infront me me to be able to walk you through it..

should have done half shafts (the whole axle) they are easier and cheaper. i just replaced my half shafts last weekend and it cost me 60 for the shop for using a lift then 320 up front for both shafts then i got 160 back on the cores...and its real easy..oh yea and 30 to press the bracket off the bearing for the left side and get it pressed on the new one.... so i spent around 300 total, but i did it myself >> real real real easy...i would go out and get a chiltons book it explains everything and if you need anything from the book just let me know i'll make copies of hte pages and send em
