Topic #21367 4 posts Started by MonsterBOX
i have an st and ive decided to drop the 3sgte idea and go with a 4age 20v black hybrid on my 7afe....i found an engine in perfect condition for 800 bucks guy claims it pushes 170 in a corolla...is there anything major i need to do to do this...the head should bolt right up to the bottom of the 7afe?? put the porsche 944 belt on and im good right? and with the wiring it should run off of the 7afe's wiring harness and ecu??
No you have to rewire and use the 4age ecu, you could use the 7a but it is not a good ecu for performance.

i'm pretty sure that the porsche belt will only work on a 16v head swap but i could be wrong

yea your 3sgte is cool but ill stick to my 7agte
the 944 belt should be close. If that is a problem you cannot figure out though, don't even worry with a head swap. First. I don't know of anybody that has a well documented 20v head swap.

You have to start thinking of the little things... Like how the dizzy will work and be controlled... on converting a ITB car to MAP, and figuring out how on earth to run the VVT (all of this supposing you call JET and BEG AND PLEAD for a reprogramed ECU. There are LOADS of factors here that I dannot begin to describe. If you really want to do a head swap go with a small port 16v 4ag. It will make just as much power as the 20v, AND you can buy misc. parts at autozone if needed. Like... where on earth are you going to find a 20v valve cover gasket...? What if you get the head and find out it has a bent valve? what if you need a new water pump? All these things are a huge wait from toysport... or you can try to get a friend in Japan,,,, which won't happen.

16v all the way. 20v is TOO much trouble.
