Help! Rear wiper won't stop... - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #21437 6 posts Started by ian0
Was driving along this evening when the rear wiper started up by itself, with some sounds of electrical arcing/sparking. Turning the rear heated window on stopped the wiper, but if I turned it off, there went the wiper again! I suspect a fuse problem, but has anyone any advice?

Car is a 1994 Japanese Import ST202 SS-I, and, to be fair, has been faultless the last 5 years...

Thanks guys!

I don't think a fuse would cause it to be always on- it can't connect the circuit by itself. Check your switches, check the wiper.

PS: ROFL! >frown.gif> poor guy
wow, that is kindof funny

Obviously its bridging a connection somewhere before the switch causing it to be on. Best to take it to Toyota. In the mean time, you'll just have a really really clean rear window.

haha thanks for giving me a good laugh, thats funny! >biggrin.gif> good luck fixing it though. >smile.gif>
has to be a relais. The contacts inside of it are sticking (welded) together due to high current.
Hey it's not funny!!!! It happened to me, EXACT SAME THING!!!! It would go to Slow, it would go to Fast, it could go to the pause one, but it NEVER STOPS!!!! It's freaking annoying as hell every freaking 5 seconds you'll hear squeeking noise from the back. Then, you look into your mirror and see this one huge black line swiping your rear freaking window... ARGHH!!!!!!

I looked around, everywhere, no one knew how to fix except giving me a smile laughing at me unfortune....

I got so mad, I pull the plastic cover at the bottom of the hatch, and unplugged the rear wiper. Guess what? Next day, it started to rain and the rear glass was all fogged up and everything and i couldn't see sheeeit...

oh wwell :-\
