Engine bay dimesions - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #21547 7 posts Started by Jeremy1210
Im starting to get all the information that I need for the v6 swap. Im looking for the engine bay dimensions from a 5th gen and a 93 mr2. I am looking for how much more room the 6th gen has, if any to play with for the engine.

Thanks,
Jeremy
some guy did a v6 swap into his 5th gen. if he can fit a v6 into that bay, you should have no problems fiting it into ours, because the 6th gen bay is larger then the 5th.

I know that it fit in the 5th gen. The thing is I want to add the S/C also. The guy who put it in his MR2 put one on, but Im not sure how much room I will have to put it in on the celi. I was need the dimensions to see if it is possible

why dont you just measure your own bay? should be easy to do, even with the motor in the car.

it felt big when i was standing in my engine bay during my swap. >smile.gif>

I would just measure my bay, but I don't know how big the 5th gen is. adrian said he had a couple of inches around the v6, but that doesn't tell me much if I do not know the dimesions of the 5th gen engine bay
dude, the 5th gen bay is smaller than the 6th... and the MR2 is MUCH smaller and harder to work in than both of the others. Look up my old post. I thought the coomster was going to stickey it, but I guess not. All of my really good links are in there. Also, A very good friend of mine once said, "get the engine in the car and running. Then worry about mods."

That is the way to go... unless you are building the engine... which I really doubt... unless you are dreaming. >wink.gif> for that would cost a fortune of epic proportions.

Basically, as the same guy said, the 1mz is a bigger badder version of the 7afe and 5sfe... all econo engines. It would make a great daily driver... it has a tourque curve like no other... The bore and stroke just aren't cut out for performance. The guy that won all the stuff built the engine right...

Don't let anything i say sway you away from it though. I think it's a great swap... and for me it would have been FAR more cost effective than a 3s swap, and yielded as fast or faster car. just keep looking around. yet again I tell you to look into the MR2 boards.
All I wanted to know. Now I can plan for the S/C after i get the engine installed.

Thanks fallen
