turbo not fitting right - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #21586 15 posts Started by rjbibeau
hey guys i'm right in the middle of installing the ct26 turbo. i have the manifold bolted up and right now the turbo isn't lining up right cuz of the oil cooler line is hitting the turbo's wastegate. did you guys just bend that outta the way or what did you do to get around it?

If you take pics we can help you out alot more than trying to explain it. Get some pics up and we'll solve your problem.

well, if I remember correctly, I just got angry and bent them. I guess that was fine

id be carefull bending those i read that few mr2 guys had that problem and bent them but one cracked and snapped. what i did with my wastegate was cut the rod that goes to the actuator then move the actuator make a custom mount for it so its out of the way. then weld up a new rod that can still work between the two. mine looked really weird had a few 90 degree turns but it worked fine.

allright guys thanks for the info i'll take some pics of it but you guys know exactly what i'm talking about. ya i think bending them would work just find just heat em up a lil bit and give em some bendage.
before you bend them there are 2 little brackets that support the pipes, one on the front of the block, under the oil sender, and another on hte side, beneath the dizzy, remove them and it will move much easier.

ya i remember seeing those brackets thanx for the tip. i probable won't be able to use em again unless i fab up a special bracket for it.
