Superchargers - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #21635 21 posts Started by spunky393
Did somebody, anybody, make a powerful and well proven over the top supercharger for the 3s-gte engine. (i'm not stupid, i don't like turbo's, i rather have a supercharger) Unlike most people, i know both can't be put on

The most important lesson I learned from Karate-Dô Kyôshan–“You can not be what you do not believe you are”
Hehe not on the 3sgte maybe (but then, it's also never been tried.. I think someone on toyotanation was in their mr2 for a while..), but on other cars, you can put both on.

i think the mini has a kit for it?

(I know not very helpful, but its all I could add)

Why can't a 3S-GTE be twin-charged? I've seen 4A-GE engines twin-charged before.

New Toyota project coming soon...

Ditto, you can in theory have a 3s-gtze. You could take the supercharger from a 4a-gze and put it on a 3s-ge if you wanted to make a 3s-gze, but that would be a lot of work and some modification. I'm not an expert on the subject by any means though.
I personally dont think smaller engines should have superchargers, there not going to put out enoughgains as an larger , concidering it need power to make power.
What's the point of twin charging an engine? won't the pressure equal out for one point, and it'll be two much for another?

i have dis agree with that.... its a matter have the right set up ... and for street use i think a inline 4 with a SC at around 8-10psi is a lot better then a turbo at the same psi .. but then again thats just me

4ag supercharger is tooo small for the 3s' wanted power levels. It might work, but ehh...

agreed. Smaller engines have to excert more power to make power because the lack of torque. Think about running your AC while trying to accelerate. The only diff is the SC would eventually make boost.

Twin charging: The SC is to make the power in the lower RPM's and the turbo is for the higher RPM's. Basically, the SC helps the turbo to spool.
i would agree with turbo is good
supercharger is good

twin charging is ok but eh not a fan

i watched a race str-4 at 18-20 psi
against a SC tib i'm not sure of the boost

but when they took off the tib got the line on him
then srt-4 starts to pull when turbo hits
but then dies off as boost is lost in high RPM
tib pulls non stop only reason i like the sc cause no matter what RPM it always pulls
How can you not be a fan of twin charging? if its possible, there's never any reason not to.

the supercharger spools up a large ass turbo, which takes over at the higher rpms- you have boost through the entire rpm range, it's always pulling.

There's no downsides, except cost and difficulty.
I know a guy with a custon 3S-GZE if it helps.

Struggles for traction in the lower gears. Damn quick once it's rolling.

Cost him more than simply selling the ST202 and buying a decent ST205 would have done, but that wasn't the point.

argh, i went by this one website that had a supercharger for the 3s, engine series. It was about 1500 or 4500, cant remember, but ill try to find it again..........
i wonder why no one has done a 7afze?

wouldn't the sc 14 supercharger create decent amount of boost for the 7afe.
I think the supercharher on the 5S is the best way to go. The engine already has a lot of torque but no high rpm power, so work with what you got. But the 3S is a higher winding engine, taller powerband. But it would be really cool to put a SC on the 3S-GE. There's all kinds of places you can go to get them made for your car, well, maybe not all kinds, but they are out there. If you go with the external(not sure if right term), instead of the manifold kind, you could use just about any supercharger. You'd just have to run custom mounts. I'm working on this with my 5S now. I'll get back with everyone eventually on how it works and a "how to" thing.

well, it's hard to build the right brackets and get the pully in the right place. Plus finding the right belt would be a huge problem.

Yes there is. You can find it by doing a search for 5s-fe supercharger. I just have a blower and I want to put it on my car.
