hey guys! ive been here about a month and im loving all the input im observing. I need some advice from u guys.... i have a 94 st auto, and im thinking about going to school to get my masters, its about time for a new car and my car runs fine, but i work far away and ive got 180 000 miles on it, ive put another stock engine in (its at about 100,000 now) and im wondering if i should just sell the car and finance a recent model used car (RSX 2001 celica) or just take a loan out for $6,000 to swap a new engine (4agze or 3sgte) instead of getting a loan for 14K on a new car. what would u guys do?

The RSX is very nice, but so is a Celica with a swap. In your situation, I'd probably swap in a 3S-GTE and convert to a five-speed. It's way cheaper than buying a RSX, and your car will be faster than any stock RSX. >smile.gif>

New Toyota project coming soon...
from my opinion, i'll definitely swap. what's better than a sweet look 6gc with a powerful 3sgte?? >biggrin.gif>

thanks coomer, I wasnt sure which way to go, my mechanic is leavin and i dont really know anyone who is good here in charlotte nc. Convert to manual? wouldnt that cause xtra problems? is it possible to stick with an auto?

Why would you want to stick with an auto? cars are there to be driven. There are some very rare GT4 automatics kicking about, I saw one for sale about a year ago so it is possible to mate up an auto box to the 3sgte engine. I`d put an non-automatic in, much more fun and drivable, make yourself part of the driving experience and not just a glorified passenger.

Oh and I`d keep the Celica and do a swap >biggrin.gif>
yah definately do the swap man... save alot of money AND have a faster car than the rsx (not to mention better looking in my opinion) >biggrin.gif> long live toyota!!!

Yeah i know! but here is the thing, I had to teach myself to drive a stick in a 98 st pickup 2 years ago...i dont wanna phuck up anything u know? i wonder how much xtra it would cost... for a manual swap....and dosent a automatic save power when gears are being changed, i heard someone say that u dont loose as much boost between shifts...

yah u wont loose boost on an auto... but its more fun!! >biggrin.gif> and stick really isnt that hard yah know? and plus it'll take a lot more work to get an auto tranny in with the 3sgte motor<--i think.. >tongue.gif> but im pretty sure
