Celica CupHolder - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #22613 35 posts Started by Drew-887
I think that the cupholder in our the 6 gen celica is in the worst spot. When I have a drink there I have a really hard time shifting. Does anyone have the same problem or agree with what im saying?
i know what you mean. a good idea is to get one that attaches via some adhesive, and put it on the passenger side of the console right in front of the shifter. >smile.gif>.

yea i hate it especially when i have an xtra large hot cocoa from dunkin. its the worst!!
I actually don't mind having one cup but two is just impossible... also I hate the size I can never super size my drinks
Agree with Benevolence.

One can is fine, but 2 is unbearable. I literally have to bend my wrist 90 degree down to reach the shifter with my arm rested on 2 soda cans.

Haha logical that your supersize drinks doesn't fit in the cupholder.
The size of youre drinks is almost the size of a bucket in the rest of the world >smile.gif>

this was a topic a while back. somebody suggested using a cupholder from a ford taurus. they fit in the area under a cd player and pop out when u push on them.
something like a can of soda is fine but it does get very hard ot shif or place your arm, If i have something bigger I'll wedge in between the seat and the door it workes pretty darn good, i just keep a hand on if i have a free one.
I guess us with the automatics have it easy then >wink.gif> All I have to worry about is getting into my center consol or into that little accesory bin thingy in front of the center consol.
I don't complain, because it's a lot better than not having a cupholder at all. >smile.gif>

New Toyota project coming soon...
i'm buying the ford taurus/saab cup holder/coin holder off ebay right now. I'll post some pics of it after I install it in the dash.
a normal can i just place in the cupholder... is even with the arm rest ... and extends the comfort of my arm.. >biggrin.gif>

a cup i either give it to my passanger and if i'm in the car solo... i just keep it between my legs....i have goten really good at pedal play with a cup between my legs....

Plus if you have a drink on the cup holder, you can't open the freaking arm rest thing.

And if you have 2 drinks on the cup holder, you can't open the ash tray to look for coins or ash your cigarette...

I usually put my drinks in the armrest thing..........it fits super size, and the drink/can dosent move around enough for it to spill
i have got a passagier wich can hold the cups >biggrin.gif>

They have to do something for a ride >wink.gif>

i hate driving with drinks in my car.. it's like, the worst thing ever. You can't shift, you spill your drink, your arm hurts when you're finished. They definately weren't thinking when they put the cup holders there that's for sure.
yea, i don't use mine for drinks, i place my Cell there. for drink i just place between pass seat and center console, or just closed bottle in passenger seat.

yeah, i started that topic...my friend has one that he crashed that i was going to get it out of, but im going to wait until summer when it warms up before i start spending more time ripping things apart in cars.
I can relate to the cup holder getting in the way... so I cut a slit in the back of the armrest and put the holder there... so now i just reach back between the back seats to get drinks... a little awkward, but works and now i can shift >biggrin.gif>

Haha, no offense to the guy that started this, but when I first glanced over the topic, I thought it was somone else that had just discovered the cupholder and was impressed with their find...but nevermind
Another option is to get one of these generic in-dash single din cup holders: click here. They're about $NZ55 which is around $US40.
Its even worse for myself, as I converted to power windows and, since I have no use for an ash tray, I mounted my switches on the top of the ash tray cover. Not only does it bug the crap out of me, but I have to worry about condensation getting into my electric stuff. I generally make my girlfriend hold them.

I agree - One beer is just fine, but when I try to put two beers in there - I end up spilling one when I shift - and that can't work! >tongue.gif>
I use my cup holder to hold my cell phone! >biggrin.gif> I pull the first cup holder out about 1/2 way then my cell sits in there nicely & doesnt move...& its easy to grab if I need it.

As for you Supersized deprived people.....just buy 2 medium drinks (if your THAT thirsty) lol
