New Clutch, But Which? - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #22668 4 posts Started by CanadaCelica
Well my clutch is in need of replacement soon, and I have been doing some research on which types there are and what kind suites my needs. However I’m a little lost on which one I should choose.

For my price range I am looking into the Centerforce Clutches.
But I am not sure which one to go with, the stage 1 or the Dual Friction.
From reading previous posts it seems that you suggest the Dual Friction for applications that have boost added on. Then the stage 1 for cars that are more stock.
So I duno if I should get the Dual since I don’t plan on adding any type of boost for a year or two. I'm looking at the Burien kit by the way, if that helps.

So should I get the stage 1, and would it hold for that kind of boost, or should I just get the Dual?
Also I see that there is no Throwout Bearing with these kits. Do I need to order a Centerforce one or would a Toyota OEM one work?

Thanks a lot for your time and help everyone

Just get an ACT, i love it, others love it. 23% more hold than oem, very nice, very nice

The most important lesson I learned from Karate-Dô Kyôshan–“You can not be what you do not believe you are”
New OEM would be OK, Stage 1 is plenty, ACT also ok, just remember, the clutch is currently the weak link in the driveline, under HARD driving, when something needs to give, better for the clutch to slip than a trans gear, differential or axle failing,,,much easier and cheaper to fix. probably wont matter with a relatively stock engine, just a note of forewarning if you do boost...
( BTW I learned this lesson the hard way,,,) >frown.gif>
Thanx for the replies, ill more than likely go with the stage 1 so that i dont chance screwing up more expensive parts for when i look into boosting.
