thats not a bad price... how is it $0 to install?

i did my own laybor and had friends come and help.

thats just the price of my clip, there are other hidded costs to the swap. expect to pay anywhere from 3-5,000 if you do your own work.

I didnt buy a clip (regretably) and my cost was 1500 shipped for the engine and some of the parts. About 300 for other parts needed. So roughly $1800.

why regretably no clip Supersprynt? Im guessing just the needed extra parts that come with the clip, but an additional $300 doesn't seem to bad.. 1800 and swapping it your self seems very do-able.
Yeah but it took me awhile to track down those parts, which means increased down-time. Sometimes a few hundred dollars is worth having the parts there, and hooked up the way they should be. I took alot of time figuring out stuff that I would have known had I gotten a clip.

It doesn't seem bad, but Super got lucky one it'll normally cost u alot more and two if you can find it for that price u won't find the things u need that easy, makeing swap more time consuming.

I did get lucky, I got the ECU, full harness, and AFM included with it.
I shopped around for about 6 months, I think it paid off.

3500 clip shipped to my door. A few friends and myself will be doing the labor.

dont forget to consider other parts the you need for a swap.

I will return one day.

SO how much if I don't do my labor? Add another $1000?

It all depends on your location. You could spend 1,000 to 2,500 for labor.
Find a shop that will attempt the swap then ask them how much.

I will return one day.
2500 clip (engine, tranny, axels)
2000 in other parts (clutch, fcd, intercooler, piping, bov, mbc, guages, turbo timer, etc)
2000 in labor including wiring

= $6500 + travel expenses

QUOTE(lagos @ Jul 10, 2006 - 1:55 PM) i know your trying to do the right thing for your motor, but this is one of those times where you should just trust the guys who have had their swaps for a while and have done a ton of research into this.
I got lucky, got it off ebay for $750 w/ everything, tranny, wiring, pumps, EVERYTHING. then I picked it up from Jarco, gas costed me $50. So like $800.....haven't installed it yet though, don't have time yet.

hey sorry to revive an old thread, but i was wondering...how hard is it to do the swap yourself. How long did it take you guys that did it? Which tranny did you use? Thanks
Engine, Wiring harness, ECU = 500$
Solara tranny = Waiting for a price
5s engine mounts = 20$
Water Pump, Belts, gaskets, rebuilt turbo, etc = 1k
Labor = 2.5k
Still needing a St205 power steering pump, and brakets, and ST205 Alternator Brakets

so you definitley need to use the solara tranny? Where can you get and engine, harness, and ecu for 500? that seems really cheap and all the engines i have seen have been for about 1k -1.5k?
you dont DEF need solara tranny

i believe solara and MR2 T w/o LSD are same tranny, correct me if i am wrong

MR2T is e153

the stock celica GT tranny will work, MR2 trannies will work, solara, and 3S-GE's s54 tranny will work
go for the MR2 tranny with LSD if you can find it. I hear the MR2 tranny will be able to hold up much better than the 5sfe to the stress of the larger engine.
I am just using the Solara tranny for kicks for now, I would like to deff get something with LSD, but Solara will work for now.

I got my engine really cheap first because I bought a wrecked mr2 for 500$ then you also have to find other things to make this swap work which im still tracking.

so how hard would you say the swap was? Also...anyone have a basic part list?
my stock 6th gen has 173 hp...is that normal?

Edit: I didnt post that...last night my friends and i were all drinking and one of them got on under my name and posted a buch of stupid ****. Anyways sorry.

So anyone have any opinion of how hard the swap is?

what were the other parts that you needed?
so its better to go for a clip instead of piecing it together.. but what about reliability? would it be better reliability for a clip vs an engine or about even?
