I'm in the market for an 800w RMS amp.

After searching 6gc, and members rides area, I didn't find any detailed info on the Power Acoustik Plasma series.

I was looking around crutchfield due to their selection, and I saw they had the "Power Acoustik Plasma TS1920-2" as did CarDomain.com, link.

Anyone have any input on these components? I haven't heard anything strongly either way, and I don't want to spend much more than once (yeah, its asking a lot).

The other thing I've heard a lot of bad about were the audiobahns. I was looking mainly at the A8002T, because thats the one that has the power I need. (example)

I don't really care what brand they are, but I think I found a pretty decent deal on some kicker subs (4 ohm 75-450w RMS), and I need an amp I can afford, preferrably under $250 or so.

So you're looking for an amp that gives you around 800 watts RMS at 2 ohms? You might want to consider a JBL BP600.1. It's rated at 600 watts into 2 ohms, but the BP series amps put out more than their rated power...probably around 650-700. And it's a lot better quality of an amp than Power Acoustik or Audiobahn.

Are you going to be running a ported box? Because the JBL amp doesn't have a subsonic filter.

I believe the box is ported, and the subs are both 4 ohm, I wouldn't know why the resistance would drop.

OK, with dual 4 ohm subs, you can wire them to present a 1-ohm or 4-ohm load to your amp. So you want an amp that puts out maximum watts RMS at either 1-ohm(Class D...mono sub amp) or 4-ohm(Class A/B...2 channel amp with both channels bridged.)

That JBL amp would still work, as it's stable down to 1-ohm. I bet you'd be much happier with it than a cheap amp(like Audiobahn or Power Acoustik.) Even if the JBL amp put out its rated power and not more(unlikely...under-rated), and the Audiobahn or Power Acoustik amp put out its rated power(unlikely again...most cheap amps are over-rated), the difference in loudness is not going to be that different. If you double the RMS power, you only gain 3 db of volume.

you should be fine not using a SSF with a ported box, just be careful.... also you can get then 8" L7 for alot cheaper than Price Grabber.... places like. www.ikesound.com www.onlinecarstereo.com www.woofersetc.com www.etronics.com www.thezeb.com (some of these places might not have the L7 but ohwell). also the JBL BP amps are awesome amps... you can get the JBL 600.1 on Ebay for a good price... other amps to look at:

also Power Acoustiks is ok.. they put out the rms they say or close.. but not too reliable, but will do the job.... also Audiobahn is complete crap....

also, out of curiousity.. why the L7?

kicker should have an amp that matches up exactly with that sub, theyre good at that. i would recommend kicker newayz.

memphis's are nice and zapco(very expensive/very highend) and both of them cant be founf on ebay or things like that only special dealers

pali - yeah, but unless I'm not looking for the right thing, its about $650.. which I'm not planning on paying.

i would go with a rockford, i just bought the T1001bd and it pumps out near 1500 watts, probably a little big, but definetaly go with rockford

L7, KX600.1 will match up.

would I want a 2 channel versus a mono? would it matter?

how bout 2 subs, or is that taken care of in the wiring of the subs themselves?

you have to make them match up w/ correct RMS power and correct OHM loads to push the subs right without damaging them. I had two 10" SL7s being pushed by two kicker KX600.1 running on a 2ohm load and never had a problem with them. Still running strong almost two years later.

if you know what sub your getting exactley then let us know and the specs and would be able to tell you which amp to get to match up w/ it.

for that much money you shouldnt go with L7's.... there are way better 8"s than that.. plus they are the same as the old L7's which you can pick up for waaaaay less..... look at Crystal Comp 8"s... also why 8"s?.... and JBL is good but you can get a JBL 1200.1 on Ebay for that price... or some better amps.....also the JBL BP600.1 can be found for less than $200.

i used that page to show specs, not price... the kickers are here... what exactly would you use to power it, for under 275 or so?

ooooh ok....... well lets see.. they handle "450rms" i wouldnt over power them then... the JBL 600.1 would be a good amp for them subs.... an amp that puts out around 800rms at 2 ohms would be good... the Coustic 1600DB would be a nice choice for them subs, you can get it on SoundDomain for.. i think $250 + shipping.. or the MTX 801D... a mono amp is the better choice.. .... others brands to look at:
