S.Tech Springs on 6gcs. - 6G Celicas Forums

So, finally got my Tein springs installed. It was one tough work, but was truely worth it instead of having to pay around 200 for having some mechanics do it.

I didn't take out the whole suspension. I went lazy, and only took out the structs, by unscrew the 3 nuts on the top, and unscrew the 2 screws at the bottom, and tried to angeled and shove the struct out of the wheel well. Everything was fine and dandy until the part where you have to put the structs back in. The structs were a lil bit expanded and needed to be compressed to about half an inch shorter inorder to screw in the bottom screws.

Me and 2 friends, it's like assembly line. After I take out the struct, I'll pass it on to my friend, and he'll compress the spring... and then my other friend will screw the struct back together and we will all try to shove that thing into place.

While we're at it, my friend helped me replaced the brake pads.

It was a good tiring work out...

gotta get some pics of it....show the difference of your gap. How noticable is the springs, color-wise??

Good luck w/ them

I'm thinking about getting some Teins

Do you guys have a full setup or jsut the springs? im wondering how well my stock struts will ride.

When standing up, the fronts are about 1in lower than the stock ones, the rears are about the same... (From Tein's website, the fronts are 1.5in drop, and the rear is only 0.9in drop)

Front installed. If I stick some green question marks on the car with these springs, it'd be a Riddler's ride.

So this was the problem we came up with. I guess working out has paid off...

No, I went cheap and only did the springs. I'll change the whole setup later on, most likely drop it even lower >tongue.gif>

heh.. yea.

The springs are a bit soft, which is perfect with daily driving. Not as hard as my friend's ground control with eibach pro. So when you go over a bump, your head won't hit the ceiling.

I got the TEIN S-Techs with KYB GR-2s as a replacement for my worn stockers; the combo dropped my car roughly 1" from stock and the ride is only about 10-15% stiffer than stock, so it works excellent as a daily driver.
yep. that sounds about right. 15% or so more stif than shock, you'll definately be able to tell the difference.

Ug speaking of ceilings, I was driving down the road (crappy/bumpy berkeley roads) yesterday, and noticed my head now hits the ceiling over big bumps. Ow.
sweet dude, nice work

Do you have any full shots of the car? I'm gonna do just Tein springs for the time being as well, and I wanna see what this will look like >biggrin.gif> Or before and after pics? Oooh >smile.gif>

I am thinking about lowering mine really soon. I will be doing the tein springs with the kyb shocks. I know a guy that works at a tire shop and he said a lot of times when they get in a lowered car they have a hard time getting them on the racks. I know that the teins only lower about an inch all the way around but has any one had any problems at the shops that has done it.
i have springs on my car as well, dont really like then tho. they said they lower the car 1.5 inches, but with new struts and springs, its at the same hight it was with the sagging struts. check out my pro to notice the gap, the rims are 17's. i just wish it was a little lower. >frown.gif>
Ordered my Tein's for $103 last night, can't wait >smile.gif>

i received my teins last week, was trying to install but its one hard job. after all the sweating i wasnt able to loosen the nuts on the shock tower, i gave up. anyone installed the TEINS know which ones are the fronts and rear?
i will try to get some penetrating oil and air ratchets and hopefully it'll do it. on the HOW-TO it didnt say when to use the spring compressor. Do I use it when the shocks are ON the vehicle or off?...cuz on the how-to it states that the middle bolt on the shock tower will burst off if i didnt use the spring compressor...whats the deal on that?
can u not take a bigass wrench for those bolts and hit the end of it with a hammer to make them loose

I have a few more pics if needed. Just let me know.

here's a few though.

Fronts are at the top and the rears are at the bottom. You can actually tell which ones are the fronts by visual observation. The fronts are much wider in diameter than the rears.

Anyone know the difference in ride quality, handling etc. Just wondering if I should get TRD springs or teins.
do i actually need to compress the springs when the springs/shocks are on the car..so when i remove the top shock nut..it wont have that "pop" you guys are talkin bout?
