Iv messed up :( - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #23467 19 posts Started by 6GGT
while installing my indiglo gauges, i carefully took the cluster out. When taking out the needles, after everyone saying dont pop the needles out, i had to go ahead and do it. I tried to be carefull but the black blastic cover on my mph gauge wouldnt come off. So i ended up accidentally pulling the whole needle off as i watched the thing inside wind down all the way. I then tried to rewind it but it isnt working. Now im sitting here with no gauge cluster and an mph gauge that doesnt move...Can somebody please help me...

Check the yellow pages. There's a speedometer shop in my town (listed under speedometer) and I think they work on those.

lol that post was for "Planning to take off your needles:what u have2 do in advance"...see me... i wasnt planning to take the needles off so i never marked my deadpoints.....

you could connect it, and leave the plastic guard off. Take the needle and place it partially on (dont push it all the way down) so while your moving. When the needle goes back down to 0 it will press against the other needle going up and make it close to where it suppose to be (within 4 mph).

Let me know if I need to restate that lol, i'm sleepy.

PS only works w/ speedometer and if the magnet/needle is broken wont work period.

uhh, i think he means put the needle lightly on and start to roll, and go around the neighborhood and keep testing it around to get the right spot?

at least thats what i'd try >tongue.gif>

ya, put it on lightly, after your going. then stop, the needle will drop and press against the black guard that doesnt allow it to go past 0 and should get it back where its suppose to be.
yup thats what i did. it still off a little. maybe like 3-5 mph.

ya, which isnt bad and if you have rims that could be another factor for being off.
