Is it Cali spec or not? - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #23544 6 posts Started by operative
Is there any way to tell if the celica I m driving is cali spec or normal USDM? Something in the Vin # maybe?

I just ordered some parts for my parent's Camry, the new o2 sensor doesnt fit. SO I called the dealer, give them the vin and they told me that my parent's Camry is Cali spec and the normal o2 sensor dont fit. Then I said my parents got the car brand new from New Jersey. Dealer said Toyota dont care, they sent Cali spec cars all over the country.

So theres a chance you could be driving a cali spec celica even though you not anywhere close to CA.

See my profile for a pic of the cali spec engine. You'll notice the air intake hose going to the throttle body has a box hanging off of it halfway between the tb and the cleaner box.
pop ur hood. it says it on the sticker right under it near the front. mine says not for use in CA, but i guess no one payed attention, lol.
Like forkee said... it shoul say on the stickers under the hood...
