Pennsylvania Reintroduces Bill To Ban the Use of Aftermarket Exhaust Systems

Legislation (H.B. 1330) that would effectively prohibit the use of exhaust systems other than a “factory-installed muffler” or a “muffler meeting factory specifications” has been reintroduced in the Pennsylvania State House of Representatives by Representative Michael K. Hanna (Phone: 717/772-2283, Fax: 717/787-4137). The bill has been referred to the House Transportation Committee.

H.B. 1330 ignores the fact that aftermarket exhaust systems are designed to make vehicles run more efficiently without increasing emissions.


H.B. 1330 fails to recognize that aftermarket exhaust systems offer increased performance and utility.


H.B. 1330 would make it nearly impossible for hobbyists to replace factory exhaust systems with more durable, better performing options.


H.B. 1330 perpetuates the erroneous assumption that enthusiasts who equip their vehicles with modified exhaust systems are involved in illegal street racing.

Call or Fax the members of the House Transportation Committee in Harrisburg (See List Below) today to oppose this legislation. This bill unfairly tramples on the rights of vehicle enthusiasts in Pennsylvania.

Yes, you may b repiblican, but modifying cars is a hobby for you. the others are a bunch of old guys who dont really care what we think.

Besides Hilliary Cliton in NY here is trying to ban Car stuff in NY state, it wont float cause shes a druggy, at least i hope it wont! hahaha

well... this law was already passed through in NY. they now give tickets for loud exhaust, modified exhaust and even loud music... i was give 2 tickets last dec, one for loud exhaust and 1 for modified exhaust.. i wasn't even stepping on the accelerator at that time... but they still gave me a ticket for it. went to court 2 mths later and there we alot more with tickets with the same reason, and also loud music... knew a guy then and he got a ticket for loud music.. and the stupid thing is, he had a factory head unit... >>

Do some research 1st, make sure your petition meets all the legal requirements to be considered or they just throw it out...

And dont think it will never pass, it could very easily pass if they see no opposition to it. sign the petition or start one yourself.
No one, (me included), likes to hear those coffee can exhaust systems at 2 AM when we're trying to sleep. Automotive enthusiasts like ourselves are definitely a minority. So do something about it or suffer the consequences of inaction.

Lawnmowers make more noise than most modified cars. Whats stopping the state governments from banning the use of lawnmowers too? F***ing rediculous.

Make a law to ban harley davidson motorcycles. those things are loud and obnoxious and there stock!

hit the streets sign petitions and email or meet with your city counsel peronel. remember they have a job as long as they are voted for. if they see a few thousand people start to complain those are potential voters walking away.

hmm how will that affect businesses in PA that sell those aftermarket parts? are there many in PA?
