I love this forum!! its such a good thing you guys are around! you would think that after like 11 tickets and a suspended lisence and SO MUCH MOOLAH spent i would just try to get the case dropped if the cop wasnt there. it never really occured to me that I could do that! I had a court date on friday the 22nd in monroe NC, but i accidentally went to the one in sailsbury (i had a court date there for the 29th) I paid 110 in sailsbury for a 86 in a 60 got it lowered to a 74 in 60 and i may need to try to get it dropped in monroe since i missed the cort date. when i get it continued again maybe i'll do some fast talking eh? (even though dark secret says the cop that gave me the ticket is an arsehole. he also said that the guy be guesstimating speeds....hmmmm. >biggrin.gif>

Go to the clerk of courts office and tell them you missed your court date due to your job at the middle school, they should just reschedule a new date. I go almost a full year before going to court by doing that but I tell them Rhonda Miller (magistrate) told me I could.

HOw do u know if the officer who gave u the ticket is there or not? Will he be visible in the court room? Does the judge call him up? If hes not there will it be mentioned on the spot or do i have to summons him?

I live in CA Los angeles if that helps.

In North Carolina the officer only goes to District Court cases were there is a judge, they normally sit in the front and are called up when the defendant is the one they ticketed. If the officer is fired, quit, or transferred it gets annouced then you plead innocent and get sent home.
ok check it out, THIS IS THE EASIEST WAY TO GET OUT OF A TICKET, simply call a traffic lawyer (i have mine on speed dial on my phone) usually it costs about $50, you pay him, he takes it to court, it always gets dismissed with no points on your license, unless your doing something extremly retarded (suchs as me, 123 in a 65 zone(yes in my stock celica)) anywho, find a lawyer, pay him the $$$ and your good to go. Oh ya, btw, you dont even have to show up, gg.

To live, is to sufferTo survive, thats to find meaning, in the suffering....
I wish I could find a lawyer for $50 in Charlotte, it's $500 a ticket here. I should have stayed in Orlando cops mess with you there but I never got a ticket.

Try this (I hear it used to work). When you pay your fine, write the check for 1 dollar over the amount (mail it in). The state will then cut you a check for 1.00 and mail it back. I hear that if you never cash the check, the file never closes and the points don't get added until all the financial transactions are complete. Good luck!

^^ that is the biggest load of **** i ever heard

who the hell told you such B.S.

OMG thats OMG thats freakin retarded i need to leave this forum now

>bowdown.gif> Who are you, the speeding ticket expert? This worked for my friend in California a few years ago (still no points). They've probably fixed it so that doesn't happen anymore, but for a one dollar investment, I'd try it out.
I'd just pay a lawyer to get it reduced to a non-moving violation - no points, its usually much cheaper in the long run because your insurance company will check your record on a regular basis, Last couple I've gotten have been around 200-300 total to make disappear. seems to be standard procedure around here to plead guilty to non-moving offense like defective horn and pay double the fine. dont even have to go to court. Called the lawyer and its something like "mail me the ticket and a check for 250 and its a done deal."

Dont laugh, I had a lawyer tell me about one town around here where you asked for a continuance or 2, then went back and changed your plea to guilty and paid the fine, and the records would fall out of their system and never get sent to the state...

I personally am not going to take the chance...just have a lawyer get it reduced to a non-moving violation and pay a heavier fine. still cheaper than the higher insurance rates.

And dont get me started on insurance companies, My last few renewal notices have had some disclaimer about how my rates could be affected by negative information on my credit report. Only thing on my credit report was I had mailed 1 house payment late 2 years before (simply forgot). Been with those A**holes for 30 years and they want to raise my rates because of something that has nothing to do with them. I'm shopping around more next time...
I wish the NC court system would drop a case because of time, I go for a long time without having a case and they still hit me with a fine and court cost.
umm if its your first ticket shouldnt you be able to take a defensive driving class so it doesnt show up. you have to pay a little extra. I know for a fact you can do that in Illinois.. is it not like that everywhere?

Iv taken it twice now 1) for the first speeding ticket i ever got and 2) i made a plea with the state that i would take the class and be on 6 month court supervision so that they couldnt take my license away (it was my third ticket in a year)
In NC you get a letter to take it after getting 4 points.
Pay your fine, take an online driver's course to remove points, and don't speed again. Simple as that.
there is no online driver's course in VA

guys if you wanna give info you have to atleast know va law
I fully agree with playr158, even NC law is different than and we're right below them.

Ask Andason he seems to think that his 3 years of criminal justice makes him a friggin lawyer, lol.

hmm here in cali...i believe you can take traffic school to clear speeding tickets, its valid for up to 3 tickets a time & doesn't add points to your record so no increase in insurance. Only thing is you can only clear it once a year or 3 years (forgot).
