I've noticed that when I slow down sometimes that I hear this knocking coming from what I think is the back of my car. It only happens when I use the brakes. I think it started after I changed the brake pads. Is there a possibility that the pads are knocking for some reason? I checked them out and they seem to fit right. I jacked up the car and tried to find something loose under the back that would be knocking. I couldn't find anything. My trunk is completely empty and still does this, so it's not something in there. Any help or advice would be apreciated. Thanks.

ive been hearing the same thing in my car but its not a knock, more of a winding down noise.

the 1/4 doesnt have patience for a ST.... so we make them ST-T's so atleast we'll sound good going slow.

The winding down sounds like it could be a wheel bearing. That's not what mine is. I think I do have a wheel bearing going a little bad, but it's not bad enough for any attention yet. I drive my car with the window's cracked and the radio always off. I hear every little noise this things makes, drives me crazy sometimes.

I think I've got the exact same problem, when I brake sometimes it makes a knock/ping as if you struck metal with metal... Also when I had to brake hard one night it pinged pretty bad and you could feel it through the pedal.

I've never noticed anything bad enough so that there was pedal feedback. I'm not sure what would cause that much noise either. Maybe you've got a loose caliper.

agreed, i hate hearing noises unless its my sub bumping...any little noise is a cause for concern.

My dad had that problem with his car, and there was ALOT of noise and pedal feedback, almost like the abs system was kicking in. His was coming from the front however. Ended up he needed a new wheel bearing. We replaced it and its fine now.

if the tire isnt bolted on tight enough it can make a knocking noise....

check the stud bolts if good
then have the rear brakes if good
then the bearings if good

Do you have springs or coilovers? I see you have a rear strut bar, is that possibly loose?

My coilovers will bind on occasion, and make a knocking sort of sound.

Are you sure its the back? One side or both? Have you stood outside or had someone else stand outside and do it?

I've taken the rear wheel off several times. So I konw the bolts are tite enough, and the brakes on the back on new. The pads at least. I checked the brakes to make sure they are bolted down properly, and they are. I'm thinking it's that wheel bearing that I can kind of hear. I didn't think it shouldn't that bad at all, but I guess it could be bad enough to do something like that. We'll see.

EDIT: I have the stock sports supension package on a 94. I think the sound is coming from the back right, but you can hardly ever tell with these things. It's usually just guess and check.

if its your wheel bearing, jack up your back end and then grab your tire and shake it. if it woobles then yes u need to replace it immediately before the bearing locks up and you dont want that. a new hub and bearing is around 300, just bearings are 200 but you gotta have someone like napa pack them.

i had the exact same problem with my camry after changing my brakes. so i took it back to the shop... the first time they thought it was my loose load sensor... but that wasn't the problem. i got it checked again and after a few minutes of test driving and looking under the car, he showed me this thing around the brake area that was bent a bit... he straightened it out or something (can't remember exactly what)... it worked fine after... i can't remember exactly where it is or what it's called tho...
