I was wondering if any of you who put in a push button starter used a relay or not. I know that with an actual S2000 button a relay is pretty much needed, but how about a button from Ignited ? one of these pictured

it depends on the switch.. we would need some specs to tell if you need a relay or not.

But be on the safe side. and use a relay. They are easy to hook up and cheap. So i dont see why you would risk melting a new switch.

How much do push button starters cost (purchase + install)? They seem pretty cool.

I installed mine myself, took about an hour. I got my button on ebay for about $40 shipped

Does it really thrust the car forward when starting in first gear? It says it may do that on Ignited's website. Does having the brake pedal depressed or the parking brake on help with that, or does it not happen on celis?

if you don't have the clutch in and try to start it, it will thrust forward like any car will. On an auto there is no problem. The button just replaces the last turn of the key basicly

With the pushbutton starter there's no real reason to bypass the clutch start switch. And if you don't, like Batman says, it's just like turning the key to start when you push the botton. So you'd still need the clutch to be in.

And to answer your original question Batman, I would definitely use a relay.

thanks Coomer. i was doing some research and I origionaly thought to use the relay for consistant 12V power, but now I see that some use it for consistantcy with the ignition wire. know what I mean ? Is that the best way ? opinions ?

I don't know what you mean. >>

Say you connect terminal 87 to the starter wire. Are you asking where terminal 30 should connect to? If so, it can be either a switched ignition wire or a constant wire.

all i did was wire my starter wire to the button then to a 12v power source why do you need a relay?

You really don't. But I guess it's better safe then sorry. The factory ignition switch triggers a relay anyway so adding an additional relay is redundant.
