Damn, after reading some replies about my problem noticed a starter goes for $144. By the way do I need a 1.2 Kw or 1.4Kw starter? Seems like the Bosch ones comes with a solenoid for $142->$159 and its an additional $50-$55 if you don't send in the old one.

Car-Quest has them for 119$, i need one because mine is dying....and they never asked me about Kw like Toyota did....wierd....

most places charege a core charge so that you bring them the old one back. they do this for lots of car parts.

tell the people at the store what car you have and they will tell you what starter you need.

150$ really isint a lot of money for a car part.

The starters I searched for ranged in price from $98 to $140 + core charge.

lol a starter for 150 is really inexpensive.. compared to ther 500 i had to pay for the starter on my first cause.... oh wait i never paid for that...lol .... but if ur willlin pick up a book and read on how to reapir ur starter... it might cost u just 20 bucks to rebuild it depending whats wrong ... with it.. and more times then not when u buy a starter for motor its a rebuild...

thanks guys for all the finds, I found an autolite for $86 as long as I return the old one, $121 without it and it comes with a limited lifetime warranty. You're right though most starters are rebuilds. The thing that is so frustrating is that it acted up for 4-5 days, and for the last 2 days it has started perfectly. ARgh.

My celi wont even start anymore, it was the strangest thing. I know my starter is bad, and has been since February, but its always started after maybe 4 or 5 times, but yesterday I was at the mall and it wasnt starting at all, so I had my girlfriend jump into the front, push it out of the parking space, and jumpstart it in 2nd. I felt like an idiot. Well.. it's time for me to go hit up "ToyotaWorld" to get a new one..

I'd repair the old one. probably just needs some brushes and a little sandpaper on the armature, maybe some new bushings...or a new set of contacts in the solenoid. all very easy to do and MUCH cheaper, also usually more reliable than the rebuilt junk they sell you now. having worked in a parts store in the past, I'd say fully half the starters sold weren't needed, something else wrong like a bad connection or weak battery. most of the rest just needed an inexpensive part like contacts in the solenoid or new brushes.
