Hey guys, just for fun i would like to find out which car are you most proud of racing and winning? list your celica engine type and all, manual vs auto, st vs gt, and list a short lsit of the performance mods you had vs the opponent. ill go first

'94 celica GT 2.2L manual (mine) vs. 2001 VW Jetta 1.8T (friend)
Off the light i was winning in first, shifted into second and he was done >>

Only performance mod i have on right now is an AEM c.a.i. and a sawed-off short custom short shifter >>

once again, it is a VW, so not very impressive, but hey its a start (plus it feels good to beat a turbo!)

we stayed fender to fender until 120mph and he gave up.

Corvette C4...not sure if it was pre-92 or 92+ though so I cannot say if it was the 300+ horsepower version.

was it from a dead start or a roll on? Well, either way my friends golf kills me. I have no real aftermarket parts on it except rims and stuff. No real performace parts. But his is stock too and its obviously faster than mine. I can beat a 3000 gt thought, they have like 220 hp but weigh almost 2 times as much as us, haha.

Same thing with a 93 VR4, i was fine until 5th (S54 poops out).

i once took a GTI 1.8T on the tracks...dunno what the driver was thinkin..but it's like u said..feels good to beat a turbo.

What have you done to your engine? If you beat a VR4 then you must have done some crazy stuff to your car. B/c VR4's are twin turbo all-wheel drive and the few i've driven are extremly fast (and fun to drive)

hey sorry for delayed post, but i beat him because his is auto...and he had a slow start off the line, he claims his car shifted into second too soon, but i dont believe him...if you have the pedal to the ground in an auto, it doesnt shift early...either way, racing is a lot due to the driver, not just the car!

you said it right then, first gear i had him easily a car length, shifted into second was still ahead and then going into third he was gaining a little, we only raced up to about 50 MPH, for about 5-6 seconds because my lane had to merge, but i merged right in front of him so that makes me the winner (and he didnt have to hit brakes or anything) so you're right, if it had gone on he probably would have had me, seeing as GT's HP is relatively low (138) compared to its moderate torque (145) and my manual short shifter tranny, gives me the edge with off the line...

I have a 3sgte with a couple goodies. I didnt beat the VR4, I guess I didnt specify in the post. I was right along side of him until I shifted into 5th cuz the S54 craps out and he didnt have to shift so he stayed in 4 and then just was out.

And yes, I know what they are and how fast they are. From a stop I dont have a chance but from roll on - another story. It was my friend btw.

i kept up with Itchy B's Celica before he turbo'd it so i guess you can compare mine to a 96/ 97 Celica GT stick.


i've kept up with preludes on the highway, toasted civics, Del Sol's, 3000GT (the non-VR-4 one obviously).... didnt realize how slow they were and some others.

The Porsche owner is a good friend of mine, and was shocked at just how fast a 4wd rally monster will launch from a standing start. And a 911 gets excellent traction off the line.

One of the rare times I actually got the launch right.

Bear in mind the 993 vert isn't *that* powerful and is a bit heavier than the hardtop.

I have no doubt at all that a well driven 993/996 hardtop would eat me up.

ah ok, if you've done the swap and a few other things then thats a whole nother story, I thought you had more or less a stock celi, if that was the case and you still said you beat a VR4 it woulda been very obvious your BS'ing, lol, well, unless the VR4 was on a tow truck. Anywho, gj beating them, gotta love it when an under rated celica takes some1 full of ego and always thinkin celi's are slow.
