I was debating paying the extra money for Ground Control Coilovers insteaf of springs due to the fact that I drive my poor car in Toronto winters, anyway, I heard a lot of good and bad things about coilovers

1. Do they squeak a lot / make weired noises while riding?

2. Are they prone to crack? I heard one guy split the threading part of his coilvers

3. Does anyone here actually adjust their rideheight with coilovers often? I want low in summer and stock ride height in the winter, will adjusting them twice a year wear them out quickly??

4. Are Coilovers easy to adjust? I heard stories of cars being unleavenly lowered

5. Will kyb-gr2's fit in groundcontrols without any modification??

I am lowered using the Ground Control coilovers and KYB GR-2 setup you're looking at.

I am satisfied with the job done to get it lowered. To answer your questions...
1) Mine do make some noise. They're coilovers and designed for racing...its to be expected. I have a squeak coming from the top of my strut with the rubber bushing insert (I have no idea what the technical name is, but its the center bolt on top of the strut). Lithium grease takes it out though, so its an easy fix.

2) I've been lowered for almost 2 years now and never had a crack. I'm lowered almost as low as I can go too.

3) I bought the coilovers with the same intentions in mind...I haven't raised them back up since I initially lowered the car.

4) Yes, the coilovers are easy to adjust. To get them evenly lowered, I count the number of threads from the top of the threaded cylinder and make sure its the same on the front and the same on the rear.

5) I had to grind the caps to the cartridge replacements into the housing so that the threaded cylinder would fit properly. It wasn't hard at all.

ok dude no stock oem strut will fit right into the ground control coilovers.you have to grind a ring around the strut its gold in color.second ive had mine for about 5 months now and they are fine they make a little bit of noise only when there not greased up though. third they will not crack or mess up the thread atleast for mine they havint but the cheap ones you would buy off ebay would.

i've never heard a squeek or pop from mine!
easy really easy to adjust
i've gone up and down like 6 times in the last year
14" rims to 18" rims (14" during the week 18s weekend)
and as of now i'm 100% lowered
still no pops or squeeks >>

Lucky... Mine can be quite annoying at times. But its still TOTALLY worth having!

have GC also but mine pops alot when i turn the wheel...ended up buying the bearing kit from evilspeed.com...works great now...lowered my ride twice a year a no problem...
