Sometimes we live to beat the odds.-Ryanaim: rkgreen04
Some of you have no idea what I'm going through right now. So I'll explain a bit.

I was fine until Monday (today) morning when I went out to work. Taking my parents' minivan, the suspension is so soft on it, I was bouncing everywhere. Then I saw this white Celica. I usually see 2 Celicas per month, which was unusual I see this Celica. 3 minutes later, every car I saw was a Celica. It wasn't that every car was a Celica, I only actually saw two total.
I got to work, I cried so much by the time I was done, I couldn't see what was in front of me. When I actually got to the machine to clock in, I was two minutes late. I went up to my manager, and told her I was going to take a day off penalty. Yes.. We get penalty for taking days off. Then I came home. When I came home, I couldn't stand my car being dirty, so I wiped some dirt off with my hands. By the time I was done, I only had the quarter of the fender done, but I had 12 cuts on my palm. The pain was nothing compared to the emotional distress I went through in couple days. Maybe after you can relate, I can talk about this. But as far as this community goes, I never had felt welcome here from beginning to right now. I only have made one friend it seems, and maybe it's because I'm new. Maybe, just maybe, this will give you a better understanding of what you'll go through if you lose something you dearly care about. I really hope it never happens to you though.

It might be "just a car" for you, but for some people, it's more than that.

yea when i wrecked my car i was crushed and completely pissed cause i put so much freakin work into it....but when you wreck *praying there isn't any frame damage* its a chance to rebirth the car into sumthing more yourown more custom more whatever you want to make it

i'm sorry to hear your wrecked your car but don't let it hold you down look at it as sumthing you can learn from and a new starting point with your celica i'm not sure you can still use that one but save up and get another one plan out your ideas and then make it better and badder then before

glad to see your ok!

*you can also look at it this way, you rolled a celica and ALL YOUR HEADLIGHTS ARE STILL SOLID AND TOGETHER! great skillz i'm surprised none of your glass broke!*

hey sorry to see ur celica gone. but thank god ur ok.
Okay, first up, Sam. I'm sorry that I joked around about getting parts from your car. Yes, I was seriously joking (if you want I'll go to other forums and find posts where I did exactly the same thing because I always say that to try to lighten things up). I didn't realize how much the car meant to you while I do understand it. (People have literally kissed their cars goodbye when leaving them at my shop!). I'm really glad you're okay, and I hope that your car can be repaired. In fact, just for my mean comment I will personally do a 3SGTE swap for NO LABOR charge for you... or any other swap you want (don't even think about it asking for a 2JZGTE!!! LOL)

John, I'm sorry that I called you a stupid biatch and said you were owned. If I was in your place I would have done the same thing. I'll be more careful in the future. And like I said, I really was just trying to lighten the mood... like YOU said though, you have to be careful when talking over the internet because no one can see your face or hear your tone of voice!

Now Sam, we're all dying to know: How Did the Accident Happen???

I'm so sorry to hear about this, man. Back in December I got in my first car accident, and ended up totaling my car. I had a 2 feet deep hole in the rear driver's side right on the gas tank. It was my '96 Integra LS/VTEC swap with a turbo on it...I spent soo many hours on that thing and to have it all uined in ONE accident, ONE little mistake. I feel for you man, but glad to see you are well enough physically to post updates.

As for the emotional stress, I still to this day have nightmares about my accident. Every time I drive past that place, I shudder and have to look away. My accident was because I fell asleep while I was driving, went off the road and woke up just in time to tun sharply to the right. Had I not woken up, the guardrail would have went right through my windshield into my face, but because god was watching over me, I woke up to turn and live through the accident. Now, I can't even fall asleep in a car, and if anyone else is driving and they start to veer off to the side of the road, my heart jumps. I guess I am still feeling the pains 5 months later.

As for the parts people, you should feel very bad (and I know raven does now, that is a very generous offer, I wish I could take it >biggrin.gif>) but everyone else included...it was not "just a car", it was his friend. I had spent more time working on/driving my car then I did spending time with my own family.

Thank god you're ok, newbie, and I know right now it isn't the first thought in your mind, but everything will turn out ok. If you had the car collision insured, you will receive a fair price on the car and can even negotiate the price if it seems too low. With that money, you can buy your new car (hopefully another 6gc as I would love to see you around ehre more) but if not, that's ok...be sure to visit us >smile.gif>.

I love my celica even more than my integra, but that's just the way things turned out for me...I wish you the best luck in the future...I know what you're going through

So as you can see, I have no idea what has happened. Keep in mind that I have taken this road many times before for the past 3 years. The road was asphalt, and I just plain didn't turn anymore on the road. I was fine until the apex of the road. If you could point out my mistake for me, I would appreciate it. Only thing I can think of is that I went up to the mountains on my car also (dirt road), and I hit a pot hole really hard on the front right wheel, and maybe I'm thinking, one of the steering components just gave out during the turn. You know our cars aren't the lightest thing in the world.. So I'm bit confused on it. I'll keep you guys updated on the car situation and insurance etc etc.

So far the adjuster came and talked about it. Also, got a call from the towing company, and they'll tow the car. From talking to the adjuster for a bit, he says most likely not even the seats (answering the PM from earlier) aren't even salvageable. They have twisted also. My headlights are fine though. >biggrin.gif>

Edit(Add): Oh yeah, thanks for the offer Raven, but I think the only reason you offered, was because you knew that I wouldn't be able to fulfill it. Not saying you're a bad person, I'm sure you're happy dappy slappy like most people are, but making a promise that you know I (emphasize on I here) won't be able to take you up on, is just uncalled for. But thanks for the no labor offer on the 3SGTE.

I'm so sorry- I can totally relate, when my celi was in an accident and i banged up the passingers fender and front bumper i was a mess. I sat out side on the road picking up peices of my side marker and crying like a fool. Even after when my blinker would go 2x faster because of the damgage i would start to cry. I'm also sorry that you don't feel welcome >frown.gif> - If you ever want to talk or anything you can hit me up on AIM - Tinabell85- and I do hope you stay in the community.

From your picture and the diagram provided it appears that one of your tires is pretty low on tread. Again this is just an observation from the picture. also ive noticed a lot of FWD drivers tend to hit there breaks in the middle of a turn or the second they start to hear tire squeel. almost every time i see this happen i see the car begin to either understeer or the weight of the car shift causing it to slide or break traction. either way from the way the car looks be happy that you walked away from it. ive been to many accidents on canyon/mt roads/back roads to know that it could have been a lot worse. even though you drove this road a million times there could have been
1> loose gravel
2> your tire pressure was to low or high or uneven
3> water
4> Oil

all these factors will come into play when driving around any corner.

Exactly what I was thinking... looks like he stayed on the brake coming though the corner instead of getting back on the gas. Typical FWD understeer right off the road. Of couse given the speed it may not have made a difference, and there certainly could have been something on the road like you mentioned. I have found that even a slight layer of dew on the road surface makes for some slippery conditions sometimes!

Just remember that while you lost a lot, you still have your life, and you're still able to walk and talk and all that good stuff! Keep your head up...

And the rest of yous: Drive Safe Out There!

well what was the speed limit right there
seeing a celica air bag popped gives me nightmares.....

Go leafs go
Yeah a question popped into my head about this the other day... you said that you were very familiar with the road, but when describing the accident you said that you saw the 25mph sign and "said a few words, started slowing down". By that I assume you were swearing, so which is correct? Were you familiar with the road, or not?
