it started with every once in a while now it is everytime i turn in two days. i looked at the power steer pump and it looks like there is a lot of grease down there. so my guess is that the pump went out or the piping came off or something. i cant back out of a parking spot w/o my car clicking and almost if not stalling. i saw that what looks like the pump is really far down, how hard is it to change and what has to be done to get to it? or should i just take it to a mechanic and save all the hassle, whats the price difference b/t me doing it and a mechanic doing it?

check you power steering fluid. if its full, then the ps is fine. the grease you see and the clicking you hear are probably because your axels are shot. jack up the car and take a look under there.

i replaced the axles about 1,000 miles ago and the fluid is fine and i have the car jacked up now all of the grease and fluid is coming from the pump area

do you have to fill up the powersteering pump fluid occasionally?

now i know that the click is the starter trying to start the engine after it almost dies. i took apart the throttle body and cleaned it (mechanic told me to try) didnt work except it is clean now. >> the mechanic also told me to try the idle control valve. can this been seen in diagnostics or no. and its a huge $249 from the dealer for a tiny valve that just might be out please help.

i had that changed

my problems were that the car would still after being started up, and would idle very rough.

mine only stalls when i'm turning, its like its working the engine too hard and stalling it like stopping in third gear with no clutch in and it stalls only every time i turn

the fastest and easiest way to tell if its your powersteering system is broken.. is to remove the powersteering belt.

After the powersteering belt is removed, and the engine still wants to stall on turns. then its probably something else.

get under the car, loosen the tension bolt on it..take belt off

ok i tried that and it still does it. when i turn the wheels all the way to the right, usually you hear a strain, right, well all i hear is my starter grinding as my engine is shutting off(stalling), it also happens when i turn left and as im straightening the wheels out it cuts out then back on. so i made a guess and maybe its a short in one of the wires in the main harness in the steering column from when i installed the alarm maybe. any thoughts on this idea. im trying to avoid a mechanic which i have scheduled for thursday. so please any help would be greatly appreciated.

you hear your starter kick in when you turn the wheel? why didnt you say that before?

if the problem only came in after you put in the alarm, check that first sounds like you got a wire caught on the steering column shaft and it's pulling on it. The mecanic will cost ya lots more than having ur alarm installed professionaly.

i did say it was the starter clicking

problem is solved i found out that the main power wires to my starter on the remote start had gotten stripped by the axle part of the steering shaft, except now i have to take the power steering belt and make it tighter because it squeels now.
