i second that

1994 Celica GT4 WRC Edition@gt4.wrc on Instagram
I'll third it ! I had a 300zx a couple of years ago, and the handling aint up to much in stock form. In fact it's pretty terrible, compared to the Celica. Although im pretty biased having a GT-Four, but i did find with the one i had some serious suspension work was needed if you were gonna boot the ass off it around windy roads.

Andy.....
i raced my freinds 300zx TT. the results were funny. i got handed to.

You would get your ass handed to you mate. But get onto a twisty road and you should begin to show him up. That said, unless your friend enjoys travelling sideways most of the time - LOL !

Andy...
The 300ZX is bloated (3219 lbs. for standard, 3313 for 2+2, 3474 for turbo) almost as much as a VR-4, the TT is quick but the standard versions are alright, my buddy has one and the weight shows even with the 222 hp.
he prob figured he was killing your so bad that he wouldn't risk the windys

congrats, you did the "ricer flyby" >tongue.gif>

I second that. The old ricer flyby. It's been done to me, it's so gay.

300zx should of handed your ass to you in the corners considerind it dosen't understeer like our cars, and it has bigger brakes so he can brake later for corners, as well, he has fatter tires which grip better...

im with all the ppl that say he backed off
It would also determine if it's a TT or not, the N/A version was more looks than anything, the only handling advantage was the low center of gravity.
so..do you feel better about yourself?

former celica owner.
hey must have backed off.. cause a 350Z handles much better then a celi ... i know from frist hand experiance...

u probably got him in that hairpin because the 300ZX is a heavy ass car. Its like a MK3 Supra, fast, nice lookin, but heavy as hell.
it was the n/a 2+2 with 4 seats....personally from the way it looked it seemed like he couldnt handle the turns
Yeah even if I was in it I would back off on the bends (and I handle corners pretty well), the N/A isn't the best for corners.
the z32 is made for cornering and such, don't even try and say a celica handles better than a 300zx. They compete with supra's, rx7's and such, and suspension and handling is awesome. Even their tires are 7.5 and 8.5 wide, as opposed to the 6" wide I believe our 6th gens are. Yes the NA 2+2 is heavy, but could still spank a 6th gen @ the 1/4, autocross and anything else. . .They are made to be a true sports car.

The 240 is the model comparable to the celica.

Dr.
The 300ZX only cuts a 7.5 0-60 and a 15.9 1/4(which is not much faster than the Celica, but we're talking 222 hp) and those tire sizes are for the turbo only, the N/A came with the same size tire all the way around which are 225-50-16. The 2+2 is also a longer car and weighs more than a 2 seater N/A. There are more differences between them but these are a couple.

It is hard to say whether he backed off. The 300ZX is rear wheel drive, front engine car so that back end does not like to stay where it should. i KNOW this from first hand experience. Me and my buddy in his N/A 300ZX were racing on backroads, we were doing about 70 around a turn, he was in front of me, and his back end kicked out and he lost it, throwing him into the woods. Unfortunatlely he totaled the car (him and the 2 girls in it are perfectly fine, just a couple bruises). I was catching up to him at this point, doing around 75, and i still took the turn perfectly before slamming on my brakes, not a good idea to lock them up around a turn doing 75. He had good tires, but stock suspension. And at this point i was also stock. This is going back 2 years now. Personally, my Celica's handling has always astonished me, and everyone in the car.
15.9 on a stock 300zx

17.XX on a celica ST

Big difference.

Dr.
i seriously believe that a celica will whip alot of cars asses in autox and suspension type races where hp and acceleration isnt the main issue...i have sportlines and 215/45's so i think the reason i was whooping ass in turns was becuz the zx is a long car with rwd and the celi is smaller and definately more stable with fwd
I used 2 have a 300zx TT, and if the N/A is anything at all like the TT version he definatly let you win.

To live, is to sufferTo survive, thats to find meaning, in the suffering....
i get surprised by my handling all the time!! i take turns pretty sharp and the celi juss takes it and laughs! and i have stock... this thread reminds me of initial d an N/A 86 whoopin like everything!

The N/A is a second slower in the quarter and about 2 seconds slower 0-60. There are almost as many differences between the N/A 300ZX and the TT as the Supra N/A and turbo. I do agree with drnovascotia about the ST vs. 300, there isn't a real way a stock ST can beat the 300 in a straight, now a GT wouldn't win in a straight line if the both had perfect runs but if the 300 has one mistake the GT would take it. As far as cornering goes, the Celica will usually has better handling than the driver has huevos, I credited the tires on this one but I took a 90 degrees left doing 50 mph and barely squealed a tire, in the Lancer OZ (which has reasonable handling since the chassis isn't much different than the Evo) took the same turn doing 45 and it sounded like the tires were being ripped from the rim. Now with stock tires I really couldn't tell you how the car handles but it must be a major increase by switching to 17" and Z rated tires.
