can someone give me at least a quick rundown on how to install the keyless part of my alarm. I have power locks that run on priority but im lost on what the hell wires to use, how to diode isolate shiot, and whatever else is needed. But HEY i did somehow get my alarm installed perfectly >wink.gif>

did ya check out coomer's how to?
If I remember, I'll take off my lower dash and snap a few pics for you and draw some diagrams for the diodes tomorrow.

Edit - This should help you with the diodes. You find the wires in the lower dash directly under the ignition switch there should be a blue box (I've heard on some models it may be black, but mine was blue) that says "Toyota Door Control Module" or something of the like. Disconnect the harness and splice into it, the wires you need.

Also, when you wire in the diodes for the keyless entry you will discover the wiring harness connected to the blue box is tight and hard to access. You will want to splice in the diodes like this:

Just because the first way is physically easier to wire.

Good luck, I'd like to get some actually pics for you. I'll try for that tomorrow. Also, I just noticed I accidently drew resistors in those diagrams. Diodes are usually black with a silver stripe on one side.

haha, yea those must be resistors cause i dont know which side is the cathode side or whatnot on those diodes. those pics would be greatly appreciated, thanks for the help already tho, you just gave me much more than what i ever expected. by the way, do i need some sort of relay or something? maybe that just depends on the type of alarm.

Here is a picture with the lower dash off. You will need to remove this cover if you haven't already done so. It has 4 10mm bolts.

Here is a picture without the cover. Here you can see the blue door control box. The orange harness on the right of the box has all the wires you need for the keyless entry.

As for the relay, it does really depend on the alarm. I cheaped out with I just bought a keyless entry system, but it had built in relays. In a few months I'll probably get an alarm. Please let me know if you need anymore info or pictures, I'll be glad to give you a hand.

Wow, that's an extremely small pic, but from what I can make out, it looks correct, not sure about the Cathode/anode sides, but the diagram looks good. If I were you, I'd use the diodes anyway. Diodes work like a one-way street; letting power flow one way, but not the other. It wouldn't hurt to use them, just make sure you have the stripe on the right wire.

Hey can any one tell me where you buy them keyless remotes from? Cuz I have power locks and would really like to open them without the key. And could you tell me how much it costs and if its hard to install?

<<AKA THA RUSSIAN>>
I have aftermarket remote keyless entry and I installed it myself with no problems. They're really reasonably with priced.

This is the system I have. The system only has 4 or 5 wires to hook up. 12+ Constant, Ground, Lock, Unlock, etc. I installed it in about an hour. PM me if you decide to go with this system I have some helpful tips.

things are good, i got my keyless working and didnt have to use diodes and only had to work with two wires instead of the three. sweet. funny thing is, when i start the ignition, the doors lock, and when i turn the car off, the doors unlock. must be a child safety thing.

my remote has four buttons, i only use two, what else could i use the auxilary ones for other than windows and trunk? if i wanted to use one for trunk, do i have to go out and buy some sort of thing since it opens by pulling a lever?

Yes, What you're looking for is a "Power Trunk Release Kit". It consists of a Solenoid, cable, wiring, mounting brackets, etc. You may need a relay.

just buy a alarm/keless system from bestbuy for like $120 and they install it. i had no probs with them. heard bad stuff about circuit city though.

Yeah, but he already has the alarm installed, he's just asking about adding on the Power Trunk Release.
