From the day I had my 94 Celica GT (been 2 years now) i heard an
annoying sound from the manifold (well, from the engine bay but
I suspect the manifold-cc-downpipe). I can hardly describe the sound - more like
a whistle and a vibration. I have the 5sfe 2.2 L and it has 145 000 Km
(approx 85k miles) and im considering removing the manifold (wich is connected
directly to the catalytic converter) and putting a header instead... Not simple
as there are no real header for the celica GT.

Anyone had a similar problem?

is it taking a lot oil or coolant or w/e

umm... ya you know

if you want a header for the celica gt, try and find a camry that has the 2.2 , you might get lucky cause some of the camrys have headers

It might be an exhaust leak. My friend's car has an exhaust leak and it makes a kind of whistling sound.

no, my engine only takes a little oil (normal for a 145 k KM engine) and it runs very nice. The sound is
more audible when i ride for more 30 min (especially highway) and in first, second and third gear when
ABOVE 2500 RPM and NOT pushing accelerator pedal.

I know BOSAL (brospeed series) makes a nice ceramic coated header for the camry 2.2 but
havn't heard of anyone installing it on a celica.
