well my g/f got a 90 celica that has a 3sgte in it and we need a hood scoop without it the intercooler wont get much air and i was wondering did it matter between a bolt on and a stick on whether one is better that the other or something. i know they will borth work just wondering it would last longer to get a bolt on will the stick on one come off eventually or something. just basic stuff
Well stick on just sounds horrible, and with the heat coming off the engine I dont know how one would stay on the glue would melt. Botl on isnt easy either considering your molding fiberglass to metal and thats not a good bond so it'll crack like mine has. If you want it molded go to a shop and ask them to give you advice but if you want to just put one on i'd say bolt it on.

I'd say a bolt on, i thought u were talking about for your st celica, which doesnt really have need for the intercooler hood scoop >wink.gif>

If you do this, don't use bondo. Go to a reputable body shop and buy 'panel bond' It's the next best thing to welding.
or jus buy an all trac hood... that would be the best imo
bolt on is fine.... >biggrin.gif>

Get a new hood, do it right.

Mine as well, has cracked, despite rivet and fiberglass... They just dont bond - heat up at different speeds, and they pull and push on each other, and boom, its ugly.

If anyone needs interior stuff, etc, I'm parting whats left of my celi out. Just ask.
i didn't have a cracking issue with mine >smile.gif>
well buy a new hood well that is going to cost money i dont have that type of money and neither does my g/f if i can get one for like 100 shipped then i will do it or 150 but it has to be the same color hood or carbon fiber
lol good luck with finding something SHIPPED for that price... i think you/she should try to save up and do it right now so u save the mess up and in the end going the way you should have started
will a subaru hood scoop work on a celica?? thats the only decent looking hood scoop i can find for it that is bolt on and also can someone one send me links to a site that will have bolt on hood scoops for a 90-93 celica?? thanks
dude. by the time you buy a decent scoop, have it PROPERLY installed, and painted, you'll spend just as much as u would have on a alltrac hood. ESPECIALLY if you hunted hard enough and fould a used one.

My brother had a WRX scoop molded to his Legacy, but the scoop itself cost 100 bucks, then he had to have a shop cut his hood, mold the thing on, and then paint the rest of his hood back to the original color. After everything was done he had spent, I believe, close to 500 bucks.. I would search some junkyards and maybe you'll get lucky and find an Alltrac hood.

WRX hood scoops dont look good on anything that isn't wearing a WRX badge.. no dice on the WRX scoop on a Celica..

Also, why dont you look into buying some piping and make a front mount intercooler?

DG has a WRX scoop on his. No matter what you're going to have to take it somewhere to get it professionally done, and even then they'll tell you it might crack. Mines cracking but I did it myself, so thats why. Theres really not a good material to bond metal and fiberglass.

What do you think of my cheap scoop? Its not molded in the pic but now it is molded and looks pretty decent.
Do u ever get water/random crap in your engine bay with a custom scoop?
it gets dirtier. sapperk you have the same scoop as me, not really cheap though.

i dont really ever get to much water that hurts anything, only dirt if u drive down dirt roads, but thats why they make car washes...

The hardest thing about this scoop is that it took forever to smooth it to look right. After about 2 coats of fiberglass, 5 coats of bondo and lots of sanding in between, that fiberglass resin is hard as hell to sand..

Im about to install the NSX air damms in my real fenders this weekend.
Mines completely cracked all around, I'm concerned about it when I paint it so it'll have to be completely re-done.

dude just instal a front mount intercooler. it will be cheaper, hell use the top mount i/c and run some piping up front.

THis endeavor wont be cheaper then $500 for anything you want. Hood or molded hood scoop, or a FMIC. the fmic will probably be the cheapest route.

hows it taste motha f*cka
I wish i would have gotten a bigger scoop for my front. A big tough guy one. For my wimppy engine.
