I personally only race just off the line, til about 45mph and then i drop back and let the fool shoot ahead. I just like the ability to take off from the line quicker, I really don't need the speed component to feel like i'm racing. My favorite place to race is the freeway on-ramp....where there are two lanes and the metter is on. I love the 0-70 feeling.... so i guess that makes me an acceleration junkie, not a speed junkie.

However, speed doesn't kill people, stupid people kill people, just like darksecret argued.

Yeah, I totally agree. If you want to race for top speed, do it on a track. But most street racing is just to test acceleration. Which means I don't normally get above 60mph. Someone's welcome to tell me how that's any more dangerous than just accelerating normal. >>

The only time that's a bad idea is like when my dad was driving his Firebird back in collage. He didn't happen to see the cop that pulled up behind him right when he and his friend decided to race from a stop-light at 2 in the morning. The cop was not happy about the dirt and gravel that flew all over his windshield when they peeled out. >> The cop pulled him over immidietally and gave him a ticket. Luckily my dad got a lawyer, and he argued how could my dad be tagged for reckless driveing, when he had only been going 30 in a 35mph zone.>> The judge let the price of paying for the lawyer be the fine. >>
