Hey everybody, what's going on? Yesterday I got pulled over and got a ticket for speeding,not having a NC inspection sticker,and having smoked out tail lights. I only got a warning for the tais but, the tails are the reason he pulled me over instead of the people passing me. Does any one know if there are laws against this because I have had them smoked for over two years and never had a problem.

I'm pretty sure that modifying your tail-lights at all is illegal. I know mine used to be illegal because they had lots of paint on them and one time I got pulled over for them.

there is no law that says "this color of tailight is illegal", but they can harass you for how much light actually passes through. I got into an argument with a cop a little while ago because he pulled me over about them. He told me there is no law about them, but they do make you look suspious and depending on how much light is let through and stuff. Really, black em out at your own risk.

They are completely black but I've upgraded bulbs so it lights up pretty close to stock.

Check your local laws -- to each country/state/city its own.

IT depends on what part of north carolina youre in. I live in charlote, so they tend to be pretty easy on people about that. BUT if youre passing through one of the hic towns like monroe or something you might get harrassed because theyre bored.
