Pocket under stereo - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #26545 30 posts Started by SimmaDownNow
I'm looking for some suggestions as to what I can put in the pocket under my dvd player because I'm sick of just having a freaking pocket there. I've seen some people with emblems and a few people with guages. Any other ideas???

I took out the sterio and the pocket and put an lcd in there, but you could mold some guages in there I have seen that done.

This is something I did, but I still used my pocket. You could do the same thing without the pocket.

Well I already have a flip-out 7" screen DVD/ MP3 player, so I don't need an LCD (good idea though). What different types of guages are there?

I have my graphic equilizer mounted below my cd player, fits very nice.

You know, I thought about putting an equalizer down there. Where's the best place to find a decent looking one? Any car audio store?

Boost & Vac
Voltage

Pyrometer
Shift Light

OK, so now my question is, which 3 of these guages are the least ricey?

Depends what you have.. for a turbo car, A/F ratio, boost, and temps are pretty important.

For an NA car, take your pick. If you've got a lot of electronics going on, a voltmeter and ammeter would be reasonable.

The equalizer sounds pretty cool, do you happen to have a picture?

Another idea, maybe... if it fits, I'm not familliar... put an led or two and a cap behind a window under the stereo.

If anyone needs interior stuff, etc, I'm parting whats left of my celi out. Just ask.
EQ would be a great addition to any car stereo... it will give it a nice well rounded sound that your cd player wont offer... id definately hit up the EQ idea. but thats just me.....

EQ's to look at:

Audio Control
Kicker
Memphis

i'd hit up the Audio Control ones definately... best out i personally think.

I like the equalizer, thats a good idea, but I alwasy worried about a pop up screne because the heater is right there behind it, and the vents on the screen to keep it cool are behind it so I would worry that it woudl over heat.
I have toggle switches too... >biggrin.gif>

Just "turn them off".. You don't have to use those heater ducts you know. I never use those in the middle anyway.. Only those for the front window and those on the sides, along with the floor ones when it's really cold and winter.
hey gas65 where'd you get that eq?

Sorry but they quit making that EQ years ago, as with most of my car audio. My EQ, speakers, and amp have been through 4 head units so far and are still kicking, and it's only been 15 years. >smile.gif>

IF IT'S TOO LOUD, YOUR TOO OLD!
I'll never grow old, maybe deaf but not old. >biggrin.gif>

But if you need the dimensions off my EQ I can get that info for you. I still have all the paperwork for it.
Ya what r the dimentions of that pocket? Thanks. -john

Sorry my car never had the pocket, so I can't give you those dimensions.
Single DIN, same as your headunit. Combined it's a double DIN opening.

DIN is an industry standard, measuring 17.8(W) x 5.0(H) x 16.0(D) cm.
Can I have your pocket if you dont need it? the door on my pocket is broke.
i took the door off mine and just left it as an open pocket. I just put my gum and walet in there.
all my switches r in my shifter bezel. i molded over the lil pocket and cig lighter.
