Celica or Maxima? - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #2693 22 posts Started by Koricidin
Well it's time to buy a new ride.

I've been researching Celica's alot, have been into 6th gens for a good while, but I just can't
stand how slow celica's are stock.

Maximas are much faster, and easier to find...

Celicas are cheaper, but if i got one i'd definatly only like it if i had a body kit.. and body kit + painting is semi-expensive, especially since i want nice rims and a system as well..

I just can't decide, i'm leaning towards getting a maxima with 18 inch chrome wheels, and still being able to smoke celicas..
smoke whose celica?

not mine

dude how many celicas have you seen in your town?

how many altimas?

What year maxima? If it was one of the like 99-03 models, that'd be my choice hands down!

-Michael-
If your single, Celica
If you have a "wifey", and kids, and a dog, cat, goldfish - sure a Maxima will do just fine.

lol
nice
a celica will last you forever with out any major problems
Maxima well........

go for the Celica

Can't you drop a skyline engine in a maxima?
Depends on what year Skyline - cuz good luck in finding that - especially for a price that you can afford.

Most of us are of course somewhat biased, but I'd say get a Celica. >wink.gif>

Sure, they're not that fast, but they look so much better, are so much more unique, they handle better in most cases. Sixth generation Celicas are truly drivers' cars, and driving one makes it feel like you're one with the road. I love my Celica, and I'm pretty sure that you'd love one too. >smile.gif> I'd say test drive both and then make a decision.

By the way, if you get a GT and are a good mechanic and are willing to do the work yourself, you can drop in a 225 horsepower, turbocharged, 3S-GTE engine for under $2,000. >biggrin.gif>

New Toyota project coming soon...
hahaha no way... maxima is like one of the best FF cars on the market

....my friend has the 1999 Maxima (222bhp stock), turbocharged

with T4 / intercooled and running at 15psi... we are talking about

300hp @ wheels... runs low 13s.... on 17'' rims.....

lot of aftermarket support as well...

they have Stillen, Nismo and etc

while we have stupid TRD that doesn't make **** for 6GC...
okay here's the deal...i actually have a 99 Maxima and i love that car...i've got so many fond memories of the back seat...and my x-girlfriend...wait that's off the subject...anyway...coomer's right i think you should test drive both of them...you just get a different feeling when you're driving the celica...sure a maxima is faster and there's some nice aftermarket support for them...whatever...i would say pick the celi...i only use the max when my main girl's out of gas or i have a lot of people riding with me...or maybe you should get both >wink.gif>

yea it's like women, you have to "test-drive" them to feel which one rides better!!!

if they both ride good, then you go out with both of them!!!

"same thing with cars"....

hahahahaha, words of a true player >wink.gif>

I dunno, im a drummer and i haul lots of stuff around all the time.....the hatchbacks have lots of room when the seats are down, its easier to load all of my drums in my car than it is my parents van......lol. Although passenger room is a little more restrictive, but i have a graduated lisence in Jersey, so it all works out. so yeah, if you need passenger space or are looking for all-out speed, go Maxima. But personally i would rather own a celica and look at that unique styling every day, rather than a typical 4 door sedan like a Maxima. Just look at zigys car compared to that Infinity.....not too many other imports could look quite that good next to a 40 g sportscar >biggrin.gif>

3rd gen ST205 3SGTE - Alive and boosting.
The celica is way more fun mang.....I only use my avalon for daily driving and humping my fiancee.

I really don't care how fast the Celi is, i love it and that's all that matters. It looks good and rides good and is good on gas. If i was even the least bit interested i could spend the money and get a 3sgte and id have a fast car too but i don't care about that. I like my car how it is.

And seriously, how often do you see a 6gc?
