Topic #27749 43 posts Started by doGGy
so in the end ST185 fits on the st and are better than st165 is that right ?im thinking of upgrading brakes since they are bad and i need to replace them soon
Any update on this? Would like to try this out on my ST if it shows a difference

1996 Toyota Celica ST 25th Anni. Edition #461
I am running ST165 calipers and rotors with the following modifications:

The middle hole in the rotor had to be enlarged to fit the hub correctly

I used two washers from home depot on each brake mount to scoot the caliper back to match the offset provided by the rotors. We just got done with a 24 hour endurance event using this setup with EBC Red stuff and let me tell you......

anybody have any pics of the st185 twin piston front brake calipers on an AT200 celica?

also I know that some SS-III and all GT-4 come with twin piston front brake calipers, and both SS-III and GT-4 have superstrut suspension, but are both calipers the same? Do SS-III celica come with the same brake set up as the gt-4.

and the SS-II celica that came with mcpherson suspension, will those fit on gt sized brake rotors???

Thats weird because on my girlfriends at200 I was able to use the stock st rotors with the st165 twin piston calipers just fine.

The thing is, why would you pay that much, when you can piece together st205 front and rear brakes for far less than that brembo. You can still get a set of wilwood fronts for cheaper and k sport too. bolt pattern is right on, but unsure of the offsets.

ah yes I know. Id rather get the gt-4 brake combo. but it was just an option. Ridiculous how k sport and willwood only make big brake kits with 6 piston brake calipers for the front, and 4 piston calipers for the rear. and they only fit 17" rims but ya what is offset for stock gt-s celica

all gt celica's do not come with abs brakes do they? what is the size of the front brake caliper and brake rotor compared to the st celica? Do abs come standard on gt celica's from 97-99??

D'Oh I still owe you guys pics.. well... here is one...

Granted there is no pad left.... the fire took out all the rubber dust covers... and the piston popped out.... but after re-assembly it worked like a champ!

I just went over my invoices - I have ST185 Calipers and Rotors - which is why they did not bolt up without some changes...
