Slightly old news if you follow the forums in the UK.

Some background. My girl and I have 2 Celicas. Both 6th generation. Hers is seriously lowered, running 17" wheels, significant ice, full Veilside kit, full respray in toyota green, custom interior and a 50 shot of nitrous.

It is the sensible car of the pair.

Hers is an ST, which is 7A-FE powered. Not the most powerful engine in the world. Hence the N20.

Unfortunately, if your piston rings aren't quite 100%, and a BMW M3 tries it on, and you're slightly unhinged, you reach for the little red switch.

And this happens.




Oh dear.

Cost me a new engine.

jezuz..i hate n2o. Only time i would run N2O is with one of the zex cryo intakes or if i was duing intercooler fogging.

Well this car was putting something like 170bhp to the front wheels. On gas from a roll in 3rd gear it was pretty rapid. And that's coming from someone who has a 270bhp daily driver.

I love all the nitrous hate. Everyone seems to jump on the "omg nitrous is the debil!!1" wagon and nobody asks what fuel management he was running...

So what did she have? Wet kit? Did you use WB AFRs to pick pills, or a boss injector maybe?

Or was this a dry kit?

i dont like N20 but if done right with fuel compension hotter plugs and a wot sensor/trigger then your set

there are alot of people that hook a line up and start pushing the NOS button your going to run into problems i'm not saying that happen here but that piston didnt blow up on its own there probable a lean condition and bam there you go by by motor

Exactly what we did. It was an expensive kit, and fitted correctly.

We reckon it was just a flawed piston, and the extra was too much for it. The engine had done over 100,000 miles.

so did you rebuild the motor or just buy a new one? The the pistons i think are the weakest part in the 7afe engine followed by there thin rods

it for sure was a flawed piston and that nitrous put a little too much pressure on it.

nitrous is just fine, its stupid to say it isnt

I agree and if you set up a good nitrous system on the st you could get power equivilant to around 8-10 psi and it will cost around the same if not cheaper.

ummmm do you have evidence to prove the numbers?
just squeezing out random numbers does no good....one thing i've learned around here......do you know what a 7afe on 8-10 psi puts to the wheels? and "a good nitrous system" doesn't say wat spec no2 system what shot are you claiming is = to 8-10psi?

and just so you know NO2 is only cheaper for a little while every time you fill that bottle is more money....my turbo never runs out >>

I believe that nik got 170 hp boosting 9 psi or so so if you took a 110 hp celica at the crank not the wheels then put 50-75 shot using the venom 2000 system because it is a really nice and safe set up you would get around that much. I dont have dyno numbers to prove what the exact hp would be on nitrous, but adding the shot of nitrous to the hp can get you and idea which would be somewhere around the same as the 8-10 psi of boost.

Wet kit.
Grade 7 iridium plugs (same spec as my Four)
