Navigation Options - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #28516 5 posts Started by Burt
I think that it would be a good idea to have all the links that are available at the front page (www.6gc.net) to be at the top of the forums pages.

For example someone is talking about boost safety on the 5S-FE and I want to know how to install it. I can just click on the How-To link at the top of the page instead of clicking back 3 times then scrolling down to the performance section of the How-To articles.

I think that it would be a good idea to have it forum subjects (I cant think of that right word) only. By that I mean if you are in the interior forum have a link directly to the interior how to articles at the top, and if you are in the exterior styling forum have a link to exterior styling how-to's. That would make it a little more easier for the newer members.
It's not really feasible to have links in the exterior styling section go to the exterior how-to articles for example, but I agree that it'd be nice to have the main site navigation links on the forums pages. I plan to setup a new skin that incorporates them when IPB 2.1 final comes out. >smile.gif>

New Toyota project coming soon...
why isn't it feasible?

wouldn't it just be a matter of adding a link to each forum?

The forums are database-driven. It wouldn't be very easy to add a link to the navigation where I want to put the navigation, and would require database structure changes(to a database that I know little about as far as indexes and such.)

oh ok.

I didnt realize these forums were set up like that.

Now I see what you mean by not feasible.

Maybe instead we could just get a link at the top next to the Control Panel · View New Posts · New Messages · Calendar · Search, links that goes to the How To Articles.

Just a suggestion, not a necessity
