is there a brake light fuse? - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #28594 11 posts Started by forkee
my brake lights dont work. the taillights turn on when its nighttime but the second lamp inside the bulbs do not activate when i step on the brake. fuses marked TAIL and ST are fine. im looking for a fuse that might go to the brake light switch.

thanks,
ray
Have you checked that the second filament isn't burned out? Usually the simplest explanation, unless all of them went at the same time. Occam's razor.
It's labeled 15A STOP.

EDIT: Sorry. I don't know which fuse box it's in. I think it's the one under the hood though.

nope not under the hood. ur talking bout the box near the battery right? cuz theres no STOP fuse there
I went ahead and looked it up in the BGB. It's actually in the interior fuse box:

EDIT: Just got back from lunch. On my 94 GT it is definately in the interior fuse box just like in the picture above.

k now i feel stupid, cuz its right there...haha

k but now i have another problem

it was a blown fuse so i stuck a spare 15a in there, pressed the brake and saw the new fuse blow out too. now im out of spares, lol. any idea where it could be shorting out?? i dont have any aftermarket electrical equipment connected to my stop lights (after all, its only activated when i brake)
Your guess is as good as mine. If you've installed anything lately check those areas first.

take out the rear tails and check the wires (pinched or frayed). Make sure there is no water in the tail housings too. There is probably a short there. Also change the bulbs just in case.

sorry to bring this from the dead, but im having trouble with my tail lights not getting brighter also.

i checked all the fuses. replaced them anyways, thinking it might of had a hair size cracked. no luck.

All my lights work. Signals front and back lights. it just doesnt get brighter when i step on the breaks... anyone know what i can look for to fix this?

i have a 96 parts car i can go to , to get what ever i need..
