BEAMS: UPDATE - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #28625 24 posts Started by Outsider
Now that I am back from holidays, I can work on the car. I started the wiring at 9am this morning.

I had previously done most of the work but was unsure of a few wires coming out of the ECU. Having the JDM BEAMS manual made a big difference. I never ever had to worry about it being written in Japanese. All the plugs are labeled in english and the pin numbers are also in english. This made things easy to follow. I used my 94 manual and also a 97 manual to cross reference all the wires. It turns out that those wires I was so concerned about go to a data port located inside the car beside the ECU. It turns out that my car is a few years to old and did not have that port. I choose to ignore those wires and not install the port; at least not now anyways.

The wiring is complete and wrapped. (3pm)

The motor now goes into the car.

How are things coming along?

Project ST204.5 99.88946% complete...
The motor is in.
Now to button up all the loose ends. Here are a few pics.

One final check before install.

My 5S-FE Air conditionning pump fits. It is VERY snug but it fits.

The Power steering also fit fine.

basically think of the beams engine as and extremely bad ass engine... it has more details as far as strength of the internals and all, but plain and simple, its BAD ASS!!!!

Wow he was in town too! How much did you end up paying for it. I've seen another one of his engines for sale again on ebay. IF I had the money I would go at it.
its kind of funny how its a 3sge, but reminds me more of my old 5sfe when seeing it sit in your engine bay.

You can actually order a blank OBD II port for that car through Toyota for less than 100 dollars if you want it. It will allow you to do advanced diagnostics and will probably come in handy when/if you have any problems when you first start tuning the engine and troubleshooting.

Congratulations on getting a Beams, you'll be the target of envy on here. >wink.gif>

As far as oil goes, the correct weight oil may be printed on the oil filler cap on top of the engine. If its not there, I would just use a good synthetic 10w 30 oil....thats whats used in the 3SGTE also.
