So I know this kid who has a wrecked sixth gen. I took a look at the car today and it's in sad shape...the car's steering wheel points to the left side when the car is going straight and the car feels really unstable when it hits a bump above about 40 MPH.

I didn't glance underneath, but I looked and saw this:







The driver side upper frame rail looks very slightly tweaked...would you guys think that this would cause the alignment problems? And do you think it's safe to drive? And do you think an alignment would fix it?

ouch..... it's all i can say. but i'm sure it's more than just frame damage.

i would take it some where and have it looked at like a good body shop that has a frame machine

well at least hes in good hands with coom...fix his suspension parts and upgrade what he can!

Id say strip it sell it and buy a junked good frame celica.. Id never trust a car that has a crease or bend in the frame.

Totaled, looks unsafe to drive. There are a few options tho, throw it on a frame machine and see what they can do, ride the SOB out till the very end, or if they want to stay 6gc, get a straight shelll but its not easy, plus ST > GT or anything like that would suck as well.

the bent frame is part of the crumple zone. It is design to bend like that.

When the crumple zone has been crushed, the car is usually totaled. Because you can't sucessfully fix crumple zones.

You better ask bodyshop. They'll know.

As mentioned...its FUBAR, well not quite FUBAR but still not advisable to fix. As we all know the Celica body helps make up the chassis aswell, once its bent its best to strip it down, throw it out and start again.

he's right, listen to him! even if you do fix the crumble zone to your best ability, isn't it still deemed unsafe by law? idk, remember hearing something about that in autobody shop class....

Before you go getting all crazy and stipping the car, get it looked at and get it lined up. It could still be good. You'd be surprised what a little alinement can do to a car. I would actually consider putting in a full car cage if it's bad, and turning it into a race car. Might be more money than it's worth though.
