Ok it seems I'm the only one having this problem...

Where the risers bolt onto the spoiler, does anyone already have the holes predrilled and have the metal threading in there? My spoiler only has the holes where it bolted to the hatch, not where the riser blocks bolt onto. So I drilled some holes in the correct place on the spoiler but I don't have a clue what to put in the hole to retain the bolt. I took some pictures, they're bad quality because its dark and I only had a camera phone.





If anyone can think of any suggestions besides going to a body shop it would be appreciated. >>

I did not have the holes pre-drilled. I drilled the holes myself where it is marked in the first pic. To mount I used a screw like these


2 on each side, and it is best to use a lock washer and use some silicone


I put some silicone on each screw to make sure they held and were water tight, and I also put some in between the blocks and the spoiler to be safe.

Some others have used epoxy to hold the spoiler and the blocks together (along with the screws) but if you decide to put things back to stock, you wouldn't be able to without probably damaging the blocks/spoiler.

I have had no problems with my set up at all. It has been a few months and still holding strong and I have driven pretty damn fast on the highway numerous times.

Thanks for the reply batman. I'll use silicone on them as you suggested, but I can't use those screws anymore. After I drilled the holes I had the same idea of using those wood screws but it was a little late. >> I wish I wouldn't have drilled those holes or I would have used screws like you said. Any suggestions for the holes I drilled already?

I thought about the 2nd one too. Do you think that would hold up? The hole I drilled in the spoiler is 5/16ths of an inch. I can make it bigger I suppose. How does the first one work? I haven't used those before.

the first one I pictured works like when you turn the screw, the sheath opens up (like a flower) and holds everything in place. I can't explain it too well.

Thanks! Those are great. I think I'm going to try the toggle ones tomorrow tomorrow since they seem to be the strongest and see how it turns out. On the side I didn't drill holes in I'll use some of those wood screws with silicone. I'll post pics with what I come up with. >>

hmm that wouldn't be good. Even if I put silicone on them?

I'm going to ask my friend tomorrow how much he'd charge me to mold a nut into the holes I drilled in the spoiler.

I used the second one of these to hold the spoiler on my last car and it held up fine the only problem is it is a one time deal I was not able to get them out, when I took the spoiler off, but I didnt try very hard either I was throwing the spoiler away.

Finally finished. Worked on them for 3 hours tonight and got it on. I used the toggle bolts and put silicone on the threading. Seems to be on there pretty tight. Can't take any pictures this late though, its almost 11pm and has been dark for a while so I'll post a picture tomorrow.

95ST, If I ever take them out, I plan to let them drop into the spoiler and use a hot glue gun to drop a bunch of hot glue over it and let to dry to the spoiler, that way it doesn't rattle around.
