Just trying to get a feel for what width I should go with when I buy new wheels. I currently have 16"X8", but I am looking at some sweet 17"X7". Should I go 17X8 or keep the 7"?

id keep it at 7, lighter wheels equals slightly faster car, every little bit counts

I think Bigfoot is blurry, that's the problem. It's not the photographer's fault. Bigfoot is blurry. And that's extra scary to me, because there's a large, out-of-focus monster roaming the countryside.

I personally spoke with someone that works @ enkei Japan.. and they said that the best ride for the 99 celica would be with the 8" wide rims

Personally, I think nothing lower than 8" width. It just looks better on our cars. IMO.

I think i have 17x7. I do like the look of 8" better tho. I need to get lighter 17x8 on my car.

I have 17x7 on mine as well. Theres really not much of a difference in the size of you wheel. It just looks better bigger and you do however turn corners much better then the small ones. Hence my greatest wheel meaning. "Don't put wheels that look like lawnmowers on your car unless your gonna go and mow the lawn"

yes, i have 40mm ventura lowerin springs an 8.5x18" rims >>

i have 18x8 on eibach pro and my rear rubs, but thats on 245/40/18
theres maybe half an inch it could go lower in the front (225/40/18)

a lot of people get 17x7s but they really dont look right on our car. they end up having that pushed in look and arent flush with the body of the car. best rim size for our car would be 17x8 with 35 offset.

my plan is to get 17x8s 35offset, 225-45-17 tires

A quick question for ya lil lissa, how do you find the ride on 245 wide tyres? Do you suffer much from tram lining? / adverse effects on the steering etc? Cheers - Insanity

best looking is 8.5x18" with 225/35R18 tyres >>



17" ist to small.....
and everything under 8.5" looks from behind to thin

everything is fine, but it rubs A LOT on my back wheel well.. i'm going down to a 225 when i save up enough money to get new tires because i just can't drive with an passengers with these tires on... it rubs constantly and im afriad of popping the tire one of these days

lil_lissa ... if you look at the rear wheel well, there is a little trim that sticks out on the inside of the well..(kind of hard to explain). you can take a grinder and cut the trim off so that it wont rub anymore
