No.

QUOTE(lagos @ Jul 10, 2006 - 1:55 PM) i know your trying to do the right thing for your motor, but this is one of those times where you should just trust the guys who have had their swaps for a while and have done a ton of research into this.
lol Jay

maybe an oil presure or an oil temp gauge

my st205 swapandour Beams swap
yeah, the afr gauge is a waste. Coolant temp might be nice if you drive long distance a lot, or if you get stuck in traffic in the sun all the time. Volt meter if you have a lot of electronic goodies. Otherwise, oil temp and pressure.

Its Orville's Celica, i just drive it...
on our engines, stock, there is NO need for either of those gauges.

I object AFR is pretty good considering how I ditched my cruise control.

the afr gauge dosnt tell you anything about how much fuel or air your car is using. the only thing its good for, it to be able to see that your O2 sensor is working and if your car goes into closed loop mode. thats it.... oh and its a cool light show.

Yea unless its a wideband O2 meter than its not going to do much. And the only time you really need gauges is if you change the stock tunings of a motor and need to keep tabs of the saftey and performance of your engine, or if you just happen to dig gauges ragardless of their purpose.

3rd gen ST205 3SGTE - Alive and boosting.
again, no reason to if your engine is stock. but if you do, id install them in the pocket like jgreening or doggy has, looks nice in my opinion. by the way, that has to be the biggest wing i have ever seen on a car...

I think Bigfoot is blurry, that's the problem. It's not the photographer's fault. Bigfoot is blurry. And that's extra scary to me, because there's a large, out-of-focus monster roaming the countryside.
Ya like mine?
Engine aint so special and its running on stock ECU!
but, you know these things attract a lot of attention. I've had an Suv, SI, focus, and truck trying to race me as I drove down the freeway at night.

The third one is an Oil temp, but because I don't want to drill into the oil pan its not connected, cause I don't think I can find a JDM oilpan in america...... I'm gonna replace it with an oil pressure gauge. Its pretty hard to see in daylight, but at night...WOW!! These are very easy to install, you just have to pull your trims off, splice the wires to the ECU and Viola!! I did however cut a hole into the side trims to put on the pillars. All you need is a scredriver to pry off things, a blade to cut things and your Trusty Dremel!
thanks for the response...i think i kno what to put in the dual gauge pod now....i think a afr and a oil pressure is fine..and i work at advance discount so i kno for a fact they have an oil pan for a gt not sure about the ST.....unless u have a 3sgte swap..then i might agree wit u buddy..=D

Actually that particular AFR gauge is very handy. It responds pretty well and I trust it as far as the stock 02 sensor goes.
Most AFR gauges are just light shows though.
BTW - Autozone has a generic dual A Pillar gauge pod that works really well in our cars.
I just got my MKIV Supra Gauge Pod in and so I'll be moving my gauges to that.. anyone know which wires on the A-Pillar are for Constant Power, Ignition, & Headlights? How did you all run the wires?

I was looking but couldn't find a how to...

Thanks! smile.gif

~Daniel~ No Longer Celica Owner.. moved on to a 03 WRX-EJ207
i ran the wires thru teh firewall which was preciously drilled by last owner.......

as for the wires i ahve no clue sorry......but u can tap into the ignition switch for 12v power..... wink.gif

just cut a hole in your stock a-pillar and run the wires behind that, down behind the vent, and use the wires going to the fuse panel and kick panel by the footwell. get ones of those voltage testers (I can't remember exactly what they are called) that light up when given power and find a source with the key in the ON position and a separate source that gets power with the lights on and not with them off
