Metal Ferrari Shift Plate - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #29362 18 posts Started by MonsterBOX
do you guys think it would be ( if possible ) cool to make a metal shift plate that sits arond the bottom of the shifter with notches like the ferraris have instead of having the leather boot...i think this could be done by cutting notches into a peice of metal that follow the path of the shifter
I don't see why not, it'd be original, but potentially very costly.
i think it has been tried, but was very difficult.

read past post on this issue. I think Doggy tried it.
Yes, I believe someone talked about this before. I think Romas tried it as well, however, they found that the notches following the shift path would be extremely small and not worth it. It wouldn't look as good. It would look nothing like the Ferrari one.

Romas=Doggy Doggy=Romas.... they're the same person
Yeah, I know Doggy is Romas. Madmods posted while I was posting and I guess he beat me to it. Lol.
I know, personally, my shifter wouldn't be tight enough to look decent... its too sloppy.

If anyone needs interior stuff, etc, I'm parting whats left of my celi out. Just ask.
I posted about this quite a while back and tried making a pattern. where our boot sits and would have the metal plate at has such a small area for shifter movement that the notches would be small/not exist, you would just have a hole in the metal plate. wish it could work though

Thats exactly what you'll have. Just a metal cut out, dosnt look right, i have tried 4 times to make one work, didnt and wasnt worth it.

anybody got the pics of the ones that were made prior for the 6th gen?
i was thinking about the same thing. if your any good with band-saws. id say make your own. just make sure you have a couple practice ones first. or if you can find a local metal worker and offer him like 100 bucks i bet they'd surely do it.
yeah that sounds real cool. i was actually trying to find something cool to do with my shifter. maybe ill try it, let us know how all this comes out.

The question is not how far. The question is, do you possess the constitution, the depth of faith, to go as far as is needed?
I tried and I dont think its possible unless you have it raised up from the level of the shift boot alittle, look how close you are to the poviot point. The pattern is very close together at that level.
