http://www.the12volt.com/info/recwirsz.asp4ga can, theoretically, take 150A... which is 1800W at 12V max, or, using the site, a little less than 1000W RMS. Its not THAT big a system. Most people will use 4ga, 4ga for many systems is more than enough.

I used a rubber boot that was on the right hand side of the car (looking at th car from the front). Its the passenger side for me, so im not sure if your rubber boot would be on the other side? I just made a little slit with a knife, then stuck the cable through. sure enough it came out under the dash. Then just sealed up around the wire with some auto silicon.
