BEAMS Update (BINGO!!!!!) - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #29827 6 posts Started by Outsider
Well I scratched my head for a while, thought about what I had done and what I had recieved.
The harness came COMPLETE and uncut. I could not believe that it was a problem on the engine itself.
The ignition system was wired correctly, by Toyota. Experience tells me that it should be in the interface between the two cars.
That places the problem in the fuse box. hmmmmmm. What is different there? The only new circuit is for the direct fire plugs.

The BEAMS harness has 2 wires that go to the ignition switch(IG2). They are located in the connector EA1, pins 4 and 17.
These two pins are tied together. one starts the injector system and the other starts the spark system.
My car has no spark system so one of these wires should be missing.

Time to pull the fuse box apart to have a look see. WOW!!! The wire at EA1, pin 17 is missing.
I only have one wire coming from the ignition switch and there is no jumper.
How could I have missed something so simple.

Tomorrow I plan on installing a jumper from pin 4 to pin 17.
That should solve the spark troubles.

QUOTE(lagos @ Jul 10, 2006 - 1:55 PM) i know your trying to do the right thing for your motor, but this is one of those times where you should just trust the guys who have had their swaps for a while and have done a ton of research into this.
I'd love to have one, but there's not much aftermarket suport is there?
