im trying to figure out what would push my rims out more so that they are flush with the body. i think my current rims are 40offset 7in wide. if i get a 25mm spacer, that will push them out about 1 inch.

now my other option is to get 17x8s with 35 offset. i used the offset calculator, and it tells me that the differece between the new rims and my old ones would only be 18mm

so, am i missing something here? the spacer would push the wheels out the most, right?

7" 40 offset with a 25mm spacer sticks out 7 mm more than 8" 35 offset and no spacer. This is a little more than a 1/4". The other thing to keep in mind is that wider rims and tires will give you better traction (all else being equal). You may notice a decrease in handling by having such a wide rim and tire in the front although I noticed no difference by going to 7.5" wide rims.

you see, what im really trying to do is to talk myself out of buying the oz superlaggeras that i really want..lol
the spacers cost about 250 shipped while the new rims will be 1500 or so. so if the spacers do the same thing i want, then im tempted to go that way... who knows. its good to know that i will get a wider stance from the spacers, somthing i didnt really realize before.

I say dollar up. Everytime I have tried to cut a corner with my car I have been mad at myself later. Everytime I spent the money I have been pleased. With as much as we have invested now, I am sure we are both going to be keeping these babies for awhile.... >>

do they make spacers that can change your lug pattern? I've always wanted to use lexus is300 rims on the celica.

How safe are those? also how large of a wheel could you fit? Cause i have my after market bbs style bmw wheels that have brand new tread, i havnt been able to sell.

i have 18x8 with eibach pro's and they sit flush with the car but if you want performance go 17X8 the best of both worlds

thats a cool pic TTE, the car on the right is mine, and yours is on the left with the rims i want to buy.


Digndoug, the spacers i want to buy work in the same way as the ones that change your bolt pattern to. i talked to at least 3 celica guys that have that type of spacer and report not issues with them at all.

lagos you've seen my rims and offset pretty even on the stock body...

but wat spacers are you looking at cause i'm contemplating spacers for both my cars....thinking h&r should be reliable and safe

h&R 25mm. they sell for 120$ for one pair on optauto.com one guy on this site said he has had his on for over 2 years with no problems at all

shouldn't Art's 3sgte be able to spin 18's without a problem?


I mean, look at the 350z they use 18" rims stock.

it spins my 17s in 1st and 2nd gear, and i can spin 3rd in the rain ...lol


the 350z comes with stock 17s


i dont want 18s cause that means ill have to run a thinner tire. i want 225-45s for ride quality

er... just wondering.. from the pics... it looks like if the tire is flush with the body, if you go over a bump or a crack in the road, the tire might hit the fender? or is this not true?

if u see it in person, youll noticed that my wheels look very push in . every celica with rims has this issue cause we have such wide bodies compared to other cars.

i dont want my wheels pushed out too far, just about 1in out more then they are right now.

My rims are 18x8 and they sit pretty flush with the car, here's a pic. And does anyone else have nitrogen in there tires? My dads a mechanic at Jensen tire, has been for 30 years and said that somehow it gives you better ride, and better gas milage. I tried with reg. air and then put nitrogen into my tires and it makes a big diff.

ummm big difference?, you have got to be kidding me. both dry air and dry nitrogen are essentially going to behave very similarly. one proposed benefit of nitrogen inflation is reduced oxidation of the tire from the inside, and n2 is a larger molecule than o2 and therfore it will diffuse through the casing more slowly. however, most people replace tires due to thread life WAY before any significant oxidation, and the relative diffusion rates between air (which is compsed of 78% N2 volumetrically) and pure N2 is neglible compared to leaking at the valve. better ride and mileage, im sorry but that just makes no sense whatsoever and is more likely a pschological improvement. nice wheels by the way >>

Don't honestly know really. I do know when i had my stock rims and tires on. I drove and got 28 MPG and then i got my rims and tires and drove to a small town 200 miles from here. I drove there and back with a half tank of gas. got 30 MPG. Also was told by people at my dads work. (idiots) but anywho all i know is that it rides a lot smoother then with reg air.
