Lotus sprinter sighted - 6G Celicas Forums

I saw an orange lotus sprinter today. I always thought I would be the one who drives a car that nobody has or wants to ever drive cause it looks so weird and stylish.
Guess, I was wrong. This guy was probbally rich cause he had 18" chrome wheels and a nice babe sitting with him.

it looked like this but it was in orange. Damn wish I was rich. Still can't believe the MR2 are these guys cousins.

Is another name for the Elise "sprinter"? I have never heard that name before...

There's a blue one here in Morgantown. It looks nice and all, but too expensive for all it is in my opinion.

its not called a sprinter never was........if you look at that picture the name is PLASTERED on the front...

its a LOTUS ELISE, pretty common in my area

actually in other countries they called it the LOTUS SPRINTER.

The older models could be outfitted with the 20V engine.

also I can top all of you, theres about 10 elises within 5 minutes of my house. sitting at a dealership

Seems to be low 40k's to low 50k's depending on options. To much for an MR2.

Okay, do your own research guys. First, it's called an Elise. I've heard it called a sprinter too, but I don't know if thats a nickname or just plain stupidity on peoples part. It's offical title is the Elise though. Second, the basic model, introduced in 1996, and featuring a 1.8lt.120bhp rover engine is really like an MR2. However, they made a bunch of other models which vary a lot in price and specs. Lastly, the Base model normally runs somewhere between $40,000(at least), and $60,000.

I just looked on a carlot's site that sold them. Some were as high as 53k. That's the most I saw. It's different here in America, we didn't get any except this new one. We also may have nicknames for stuff that you guys don't have over there in the UK. Please don't jump to conclusions about people being stupid, it's hard to make friends that way. I'm no expert at all though.

The Elise has the 2ZZ-GE, right? 180 HP for a car that weighs ~1,800 lbs. Wow

i read an article in consumer reports i believe recently that compared roadsters of which the elise, i dont know where this sprinter name came from >confused.gif>, ranked the lowest. others in the report were the boxster, slk, 350z, vette, s2000, and the z4. 350z was the winner in the group. even still id still get one, i think they look nice and are definately a head turner. have yet to see one here.
I think Bigfoot is blurry, that's the problem. It's not the photographer's fault. Bigfoot is blurry. And that's extra scary to me, because there's a large, out-of-focus monster roaming the countryside.

Most of the Celica world is with you. "Who cares if it doesn't perform the best?, it turns heads." To each his own. I'm much more of a preformance guy. But not as inteligent as some, seeing as how I bought a Celica. It has a good deal of potential though.

i know your a performance guy, youve said it countless times. id get the elise not only because it looks unique but it handles very well and not to mention was the quickest car in the report. the reason it earned the lowest rating was because of road/engine noise, lack of comfort, poor visibility, pedals too close together, etc. so dont think i only care for looks, it about balance >smile.gif> i wouldnt like a car that leaned to heavily to either extreme.

Very good point. I remember seeing this thing on 5th gear. It rocked on there. If they could hop this engine up a little bit, it'd be a nice car. Better engine, and lower price. The 350z and s2000 are still cheaper. I'm not going to say the Lotus Elipse is a bad car. It's a great car, especially in Europe. It's just too much money for what it is. I guess if I had enough money, or came across one for cheap, I'd go for it. With the 1.8 vvt Celica motor, it should have a nice aftermarket support. I'll see how they do on the race circuits, then I'll make my final decision.

Sorry about the big long quote everyone, I'm not sure were the quote I want start and stop. And about me saying I'm a performance guy countless time, I wasn't sure how well known I am around here, and I just wanted people to know were I'm coming from.
