Help...Celi is possibly going bye bye - 6G Celicas Forums

Well everyone I think my Celica is going to either be traded in, fixed, or I might just get a new car. >frown.gif> This past friday I came home around 5am from my b/f's house and when i pulled into my drive way I heard this "panging/ratteling" from the engine bay.

If I were to describe it it's like the sound that a roller coaster makes when it's pulling you up the first hill.

I took it into 'Yota' on Sat. and left it there for the wknd and I just got word from a family friend that works in the garage that 'Yota' is going to tell me I need a new engine.

My friend that works there told me that his friend has an engine he could sell me for $800-$1200 with 60k on it. I believe it's just a 7afe though. >frown.gif>

I'm waiting on Toyota to call me back, so we'll see what they diagnosed.

What do you all think? Is it finally time to move on and get a new car? Possibly an IS300 or a Saab Aero. >confused.gif> Don't really know yet.

I know everyone is going to say get a 3sgte right?!

Im guessing your bearings went out. mine was like that. If you want it back, fast on the road and cheap. Get another 7afe engine and just drop it in. A 3s or a 4a will consume a lot of time and money to get it to run right, wired right and run fine with all the stuff you had on your stock car. Another car, will only cost you more and what would you do with ur dead car?
Well it's official, it's a engine rod knock. My engine was 3 qrts low on oil.
My friend that works there told me that bad bearings are common on these 7afe's. He's gone through 2 Celica's with the same issue. He said that he can put another 7afe in for me that way I won't have to pay double at Toyota if i decide to fix it.

The thing is I really love my car....sucks that it's so slow, but I've had this car for 5 yrs. I hate to just let it go and move on. But eventually that's something that I had to come to at one point....this time it's now.

This sucks.
Well if you do decide to get rid of the celi sell me your rims. >smile.gif>
a car is more then its motor. start doing research and put another motor into it. a 3sgte swap is a great way to bring the car to life!

15PSI - 30MPG - Megasquirt Tuned
no...don't' sell it. just drop a new motor in and you'll be fine.

Wheels, fogs, tails...um that's about it really. lol

>frown.gif> I'm sad.

Yes, but the question is do I have the time now. >frown.gif> I think I'm just going to replace the existing motor with a low mileage 7afe and possibly keep it and buy a new car for reliability reasons now. I need to start growing up. lol I can't keep rolling up to GM in my Toyota and park in BFE bcus they only allow "GM Pride" vehicles in their parking lots! lol

Sorry I'm just venting and caught off guard with what's happened. >frown.gif>
OMG Toyota offered me $500 for my car! lol How pathetic. >frown.gif>
tell toyota to shove it. $500??? and tell all your GM pride ppl to f*ck off.
sorry...it just makes me mad b/c you have such a nice car.

If you must though, you could sell your jdm tails, springs, splitters, side skirts, fogs, things like that
500 for the celica?

wtf they are high on something arent they...

the yota dealership offered my bro 750 for his 85 Celica Supra and it was running in 5 cylinders...
I have 2.2 engs ....one with 63k and another with 19k are willing to sell this car? if so please send me some pictures
He meant he has two 2.2 liter engines, as in he has two GT engines.
