Engine burning oil - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #30936 4 posts Started by elvasoshexai
just a quick question... if when you turn on ur car there is a small puff of blue smoke this means it is burning oil correct?

so um.. this means oil is leaking right? is it a cheap fix? how would you fix it?

I'm no engine specialist, but that might be from the oil getting past the piston rings(I think thats what they're called) and into the combustion chamber. It generally goes away after they have soaked up oil to create that better seal. To fix it, you need to replace the rings and possibly other things?

But someone who is more of an expert can correct me, or maybe i'm right.

if the smoke is BLUE during cold starts, its most likely valve seals.

yea. it's a tint of blue when it starts up. goes away after like 1sec... are there other types of colours it could be or sumthin?

hm. so valve seals are something you gotta replace when you remove the valv cover right? and it's not a normal thing they replace during timing belt changes when they replace seals and stuff right?
