Hmm...seems like a lot of people don't like the red? Is it just the color or what? I could make it blue...would that make it better?

the red doesnt bother me!!! but then again im not on the home page often enough to notice it hehe
Looks awesome! I really like the colors and layout of the main page. Good job Coomer!
the red isnt unbearable, but with the pic in the corner as well i just think its too much. would look better in my opinion if it was light blue banner like the rest of the pages. blue would match the color scheme of the forums better as well, and its more soothing. by the way, ive found so many nice cars with the picture indexing, its awesome. too bad they arent active on the forums frown.gif ... and i found a few that are questionable at best lol

I think Bigfoot is blurry, that's the problem. It's not the photographer's fault. Bigfoot is blurry. And that's extra scary to me, because there's a large, out-of-focus monster roaming the countryside.
I LOVE IT!!!!! biggrin.gif i love how the member rides pages look...

I agree...the home page does seem cluttered, especially the left column. Too much text, not enough whitespace, no gray seperator lines, etc. The home page was the last thing I did, and I rushed through it in an effort to get the site up and online. I will be tweaking it for sure soon though to make it look a lot better. smile.gif

All good things come with time. I'm not going to be upset if it takes you a while to get it up. I don't think anyone is going to be upset with you. If they are, they suck. We all appreciate what you're doing for the community with this website. Take your time, and feel good about yourself. Don't get too big of a head though. wink.gif

Site looks badass, I may have to swing by more often.

Pistons are for sissies!90 RX-7 TurboII
it's good, I personally approve.
I'm a little late getting around to commenting, but I totally love the new site. Great work Coomer, I know you've heard it from everyone else already but this is a totally superior website, and i love the new look. Keep up all of your years of hard work and dedication to the site, it definately shows. smile.gif

3rd gen ST205 3SGTE - Alive and boosting.
Alright, I changed the red bar to blue on the intro page. Does that look better?

New Toyota project coming soon...
I didn't have a problem with the red but I do think the blue looks better.

Project ST204.5 99.88946% complete...
Ihad a problem with the red, and I think the blue looks much better XD.
What about custom skins though, for those with contrary preferences?
Site iz beautiful. much luv 2 ya man i think we all owe ya so much for the hard work that you put in for this site. youve provided something for us that we all cherish no matter how it lookz. Thankz lotz man im sure we all apperciate it no matter the astectics or however u spell it. Laterz

I gotz 2 things my celi and a dream, the prob is commin up with the thrid one...
Yes we'd probably all agree that Coom built a great site. bowdown.gif

But he was asking for constructive comments. Nothing's perfect.

I love the blue on the homepage. I thought the red celi and the red bar was a little too much, since it wasn't consistent throughout the site.
Bravo! Bravo! Nicely done Coomer.

JDM guy made me do it.
I am late commenting too but have a few thoughts.

First, other than forums that have 10 times the traffic we do, the layout and forum selection of this site is the best, bar none, that I have ever visited. The simple breakdown of categories generates traffic and interest IMO. We have a fairly small number of cars compared to generations of other vehicles yet good traffic level and some very informative members. While its a testament to the 6gc enthusiasts, the website design deserves due credit as well.

Second, the non-forum information is also top notch. The only change I would suggest is posting the BGB for the N/A car and for the GT4. Given the popularity of the 2nd gen 3sgte, it would be nice to post the BGB from the 90-93 alltrac as well. I know that there has been a concern regarding proprietary information but many forums, including celica-tech, have been doing it a long time without any problems. Quite frankly, I think the availability of this information increases the willingness of owners to fix their cars by buying more parts from Toyota. They are actually making money from it! Also, their bread is buttered by hard core Toyota enthusiasts who they want to keep loyal. I don't see them objecting anytime soon. And, if they do object, they are not going to sue you for copyright infringement. Those suits cost money. They would just send a letter asking you to remove the information which would take about 30 minutes I imagine. Put those BGB's on-line Coom!

Third, I think the mods do a good job of monitoring the site, cleaning up little things, and trying to strike a balance between free expression and not letting things get out of hand. God knows its not a job I would want. Manny's "more involved" approach was, in my opinion, necessary given some of the posts and threads that have been created. I encourage the mods to continue to search for that balance while being mindful of the fact that public critism is not inherently bad. Be guided by the principle that true information and honest commentary are to be encouraged. The integrity of the information put on the forum (and thats what the site is all about really) depends on it.

Fourth, and this is a little pet peeve of mine, I believe the site needs to have three letter searching. So many other forums have it that it makes me wonder why we don't. For those of us that use the search function (which is to be encouraged), it would be an immeasurable help. My humble opinion is that this should be a top priority as you look to do further upgrades because there is nothing, outside of the BGB's, which will help the visitors of this site more. Although I feel strongly about this and have mentioned it in the past, my comment should not be interpreted as overly critical because its a small issue that is overshadowed by the many positive features of the site.

All in all, I say the site is a testament to a job well done.

Good luck and continued success.

QUOTE(lagos @ Jul 10, 2006 - 1:55 PM) i know your trying to do the right thing for your motor, but this is one of those times where you should just trust the guys who have had their swaps for a while and have done a ton of research into this.
There seems to be a problem with poles marking read or unread. I read what's in the poles and then search around other things and come back and it will have the little thing that means it has new posts, but when I look there isn't any. All the threads around it will be up to date on being marked as new posts or no new posts. I noticed once in the Noris vs. Lee thread, that when there had been a new topic it was marked at "no new posts." Is it reversed or something? Or is it just my computer?

I just thought I'd bump this for Coomer. If you don't see it, I'll make a new thread with it. If there's nothing wrong, shoot me a pm saying it's my computer please.

Are you sure? I just check this by reading the Noris vs Lee thread because it said there were new posts. After I was done reading it, I backed up to off topic, then hit refresh, and it still said there were new posts.

Clear you cache (including cookies) and resart your browser. Also try clicking on the "mark all posts as read" link towards the bottom of the main page.

Also, the google ads kinda mess up the format of this page:
http://www.6gc.net/index.php?action=information&itu=3
moving "0 - FWD - 7A-FE (USDM ST)" under the ads with the rest of the numbers would probably look better.

Project ST204.5 99.88946% complete...
When I use the option to mark all as "read," it fixes it. Doesn't seem to me like I should have to do that or delete cookies and restart my browser just to show that I've read the poles. It doesn' t bother me, it just seems like there's probably something simple going on here that's an easy fix. It's a good running site when the best thing someone can complain about is a little thing like this. You'll always have them SOB's that want to pick out every little detail. wink.gif

EDIT: It just seems to be that dang Noris vs Lee thread now. Maybe I'm just going crazy here.

EDIT2: Doing it with Underbody Neon pole in exterior styling now. Seems to be hit and missing.

Under member's rides, click advanced search. There is a location field there.

Coomer you did an awsome job with the pages. I give you a big hand of that. Theres only one thing imo which was better in the old intro page. It's that the pic which is now always the same red celi with the c-one emblem changed and there was like 10 different pics so the intro page wasn't the same all the time. Like to see more nice celi pics on the intro page. smile.gif
