OK sorry but Im having trouble with this havnt gotten much sleep in the past week, I am trying to change my altinator belt and I have loosened the bolt on the top of the altinator and loosened the tightening bolt but I cant get the altinator to budge am I missing something??
Your not going to move the alternator youself, the loosening bolt you need to loosen so that there is slack on the belt, your not going to actually take the alternator out. Just keep loosing the tension bolt until you get slack in the belt.

You will need to loosen BOTH mounting bolts, then the adjuster bolt,,,
What other bolt are you talking about? Theres the hinge bolt, then theres the bolt that connects to the adjuster bracket, and then the tensioner bolt.

Theres three bolts u have to play with

the first two youve already played with are the ajustment ones in the front.

in the back however there is a one long bolt holding the alternator on. You must loosen this bolt to allow the alternator to pivot.
im plannin to change out my belts soon....can any1 show any pics?..so this guy can do it and me to perhaps?..... biggrin.gif
Everybody will tell you the most simple method to take out the belt, but they forget one thing.

After you have loosened all the bolts, u need to take a rubber hammer and a piece of wood and bangslightly on the alternator untill it budges a little. After so many years of working, the alt. isn't just going to slide around as u want, cause theres rust and its been stuck in place for so long.
when i had my engine apart a couple weeks ago i changed over all my belts, make sure when you put this particular belt back on, you tighten everything up nice and proper. If it is too loose you get this moaning screech sound whenever you turn the car on or rev the engine thumbsdown.gif . I had to go back and tighten mine back up, its kinda embarassing driving around with that. Just a lil tip! wink.gif

The question is not how far. The question is, do you possess the constitution, the depth of faith, to go as far as is needed?
