In the top pic mainly, I cant seem to get that pivoiting part out of the sub frame(because of the bent"lip" part). It looks like I have to drop the whole subframe, which I really want to get around, suggestions?

Have you tried prying it apart with a crowbar?
My suggestions is to not worry about breaking something.
The more you worry about breaking it the less chance you have of fixing it!
